First Look at Harlan Coben’s Lazarus Presents Sam Claflin Diving into a Dark Family Mystery
If there’s anything certain about Harlan Coben, it’s that the best-selling author will deliver a thrilling story.
That seems so with Prime Video’s latest outing with Coben on Lazarus, which arrives on the platform on Wednesday, October 22. The six-episode series comes from an original idea created by Coben and BAFTA-winner Danny Brocklehurst.
Coben also had another series on Prime Video, Shelter, which was based on the author’s 2011 original novel. The concept for Lazarus is different compared to his previous streaming series. However, Coben is known for particular twists and turns that come with such a mystery-focused series.

“Lazarus follows Joel Lazarus, who returns home after his father, Dr. Jonathan Lazarus, dies by suicide and begins to have disturbing experiences that can’t be explained,” per its logline.
“He quickly becomes entangled in a series of cold-case murders as he grapples with the mystery of his father’s death and his sister’s murder 25 years ago.”
From these first-look images, it seems that Joel may be digging into a larger conspiracy surrounding his father’s death, searching for potential allies and leads that can give him a leg up. It also seems that Joel and Jonathan will have a falling out that could lead to Joel’s initial investigation.
While there are still a few weeks until Coben’s readers can truly get a sense of what’s to come with Lazarus, the good news is that these photos can give viewers a sense of the tension and curiosity that Joel’s investigation will bring.

The series stars Daisy Jones & The Six star Sam Claflin and Castlevania‘s Bill Nighy as the father-and-son duo. Additional cast for the series include Alexandra Roach as Jenna Lazarus, David Fynn as Seth McGovern, Karla Crome as Bella Catton, and Kate Ashfield as Detective Alison Brown.
Harlan Coben’s Lazarus is executive produced and written by Harlan Coben and BAFTA-winner Danny Brocklehurst, alongside BAFTA-winner Nicola Shindler and Richard Fee.
Wayne Che Yip will direct the first two episodes and will also serve as executive producer.
Matt Strevens will produce. The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Quay Street Productions in association with Final Twist Productions.
