The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 Adds Three to Cast and Begins Production
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has added three new people to its cast as it begins production on its third season.
Andrew Richardson (Ponies), Zubin Varla (Andor), and Adam Young (Masters of the Air) have joined the series, which recently began filming at the hit fantasy show’s new production home at Shepperton Studios in the UK.
Richardson will be a series regular, while Varla and Young will appear on The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 in recurring roles.

In February, the Prime Video series added Jamie Campbell Bower (Stranger Things) and Eddie Marsan (Franklin) to the cast while the season was in pre-production. Bower will be a series regular with Masan recurring.
As previously reported, the streamer renewed the fantasy series for Season 3 earlier that month. “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power continues to captivate audiences worldwide, and we’re thrilled that a third season is underway,” Vernon Sanders, head of television, Amazon MGM Studios, said at the time.
“The creative team has an extraordinary vision of what’s to come with stories that have left us enchanted and enthralled. We look forward to continuing this epic journey, for our global customers, delving even deeper into the legendary tales that shaped Middle-earth,” Sanders continued.
The series wrapped up its sophomore run with The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 Episode 8, “Shadow and Flame,” in October 2024.

Charlotte Brändström, who served as co-executive producer and directed multiple episodes in the show’s first two seasons, will return as executive producer and director for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3.
Sanaa Hamri, who directed multiple episodes in the second season, will also return as director, with veteran director Stefan Schwartz joining the series.
Executive producers J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay are the showrunners of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3.
Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, Kate Hazell, and Brändström executive produce the series. Matthew Penry-Davey is a producer, and Ally O’Leary, Tim Keene, and Andrew Lee are co-producers.
