Henri Esteve Talks ‘Found’ and Whether Mike Would Have Returned in a Third Season [Interview]
Within moments of seeing Henri Esteve’s character Mike on Found, Dahn punches him hard, and he hits the ground. Mike is a character Dahn has a complicated backstory with. On the Found Season 2 finale, which now serves as its series finale, Mike needs help from M&A, and Dahn has to set aside their past — if only for a short time.
I recently spoke with Esteve about his role on Found Season 2 Episode 22, taking that punch, and whether or not we could have seen the character in a third season. Our conversation took place before the news that NBC had canceled the series — at that point, renewal news was still up in the air.
“There is a possibility that you will see me again if it gets renewed,” Esteve told me at the time. Because his character shares a history with Dahn, it would have been reasonable to think the character would return, given how the finale ended.

Esteve referred to the pilot episode where Dahn is talking a woman out of jumping off a roof. In the process of talking her down, Dahn reveals that he was missing once, saying he was “abandoned and betrayed by people who were supposed to look out for me.”
On the Found Season 2 finale, it’s revealed that one of those people he’s referring to is Mike.
Seeing the person Dahn says is responsible for him losing three years of his life is obviously difficult for him, but Mike has also bettered himself over the years. Esteve said he imagines Mike had reached out several times to Dahn, but was never able to make amends.
So, for Mike to finally be able to see Dahn in person and apologize, even if it’s not fully accepted, is still significant. “There’s some weight that gets taken off his shoulders,” Esteve said.
“People forgive on their own timeline,” Esteve noted. “I think for [Mike], all he could do was apologize, and keep apologizing, and try to be better than he was yesterday.”
“And I think he has changed a lot,” he continued. “I think he’s gotten better and grown from mistakes, which is all we can ask for. At the end, we have that scene looking at Desiree in the hospital, where I ask him if he wants to go get a coffee. And he says no, but he doesn’t shut the door.”
“I think for Mike, that’s a win.”

As for what it was like to take that punch at the beginning of the episode, Esteve said there were stunt doubles and stunt coordinators involved, but he managed to hit the floor for one take anyway.
“It wasn’t my 1st scene, luckily,” Esteve said. “They really didn’t want us to do it, and it’s really hard not to. I think it’s really hard, especially if you’re the one taking the punch.”
“You’re in the middle of a scene, so you just kind of go with it,” he continued. “I just went to the floor, and the stunt coordinator was not happy.” After that, there were a few more takes with his stunt actor, who Esteve said “took a beating” and “just dropped to the concrete floor like four times in a row.”
“Yeah, respect to that guy,” Esteve said.
Esteve also gave some insight into what it’s like behind the scenes on Found, applauding its welcoming, positive atmosphere.
“I’ve come into shows that were a few seasons in a few times now. And I will say, Found was probably the — and I love those other castmates, and I’ve had great times with them, and we all became close — but Found, I think, was the warmest set I’ve walked onto.”
He went on to describe how Shanola Hampton, who plays Gabi Mosely, would routinely bring everyone together to welcome anyone new.
“We’ll intro them and get everyone to do a clap, and everyone claps it up for a second. She tells everybody how happy she is, and they are, to have you joining,” Esteve said. “I think she’s really focused on making it feel like a family.”
