Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 22 Review: …Don’t You Cry

Chicago Med, Reviews

Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 22, “…Don’t You Cry,” couldn’t end the season without major drama. Luckily, Noah’s dad pulling out a gun in the middle of the hospital doesn’t backfire, and all of our characters make it out alive.

However, his reaction is completely understandable. He believes his son has died because of the power and manipulation of another grieving father. Both of them have been trying to do what’s best for their children, guiding themselves by love and pain.

While this incident is intense and keeps us on our toes, it isn’t the most important thing that happens during the season finale. Nevertheless, it gives closure to Alea and Noah’s storylines.

Goodwin’s Respect

Goodwin’s storyline during Chicago Med Season 10 was determined by the terrible attack she suffered and her relationship with Dennis. One of them changed her life forever, and the other made her see what it is she wants at this point in her life.

Getting to see her confront her attacker is the perfect closure for that storyline. Instead of giving the attacker what she wants, Goodwin puts herself first and chooses not to forgive her. That is what she deserves and what she needs for her own healing process.

And if we’re honest, breaking up with Dennis is also exactly what she needs for her process. He has proven time and time again that he doesn’t respect her the same way she does, and doesn’t see her as an equal.

In the end, she seeks the comfort that she needs from her ex-husband. Even though Bert doesn’t remember her, Goodwin is at peace by his side, telling him about her feelings, and then staying quiet. She turns to what she knows will help her feel better.

For someone who started the season in danger, it’s nice to see Goodwin end the season at peace.

A Complicated Cliffhanger

The moment we found out Asher was pregnant, we knew her sister’s reaction wouldn’t be the best. However, Lizzy’s anger doesn’t seem fair. Hannah has done everything she can to amend for her mistakes and give her sister her dream, but Lizzy still judges her for the person she used to be.

While we can understand she is upset that Hannah is pregnant and can no longer do that, Hannah deserves better for everything she has been trying to do for her sister.

We also knew at some point Hannah would have to tell Ripley that she is pregnant. She is excited by the idea of becoming a mom, but seems put off by telling him about it when he says seeing all the pain parents go through makes one wonder if it’s really worth it. That makes Hannah wonder if this is the man she wants to raise her child with.

However, what surprises everyone and ends the season on a major cliffhanger is the fact that Asher shows up at Archer’s house. When she knocks on the door and we see Ripley heading to open it, we believe she has come to see him. Ripley opens the door to the woman he rescued, and Asher tells Archer they need to talk.

Now, this makes us wonder. Is she there because she needs advice and knows she can turn to him? Or is she there because, off-screen, something happened between them, and Archer is a potential baby daddy?

The answer will hopefully be revealed as soon as Chicago Med Season 11 premieres.

Lenox’s Secret

When Chicago Med Season 10 started and Lenox was introduced, viewers didn’t know if they would ever be able to like her. However, as the season progressed and we learned more about her, she became more likable. Eventually, she became one of the team.

The diagnosis she receives at the end of the season is something we’ve all been expecting since she mentioned it to Archer. It is also very on brand that she lied about it and kept the truth to herself.

While it seems she has become more prone to open up to Archer about her feelings and thoughts because they are both “cold, dead hearts,” she is still unable to tell him the truth when it comes to her health. Lenox still has the mentality that this is going to be a burden on those around her.

What happened between her and Hayes probably prevents her from opening up to others. She thought she had a chance at happiness with someone, but he was a horrible person. The result is that Lenox has put her walls back up and is hesitant to be honest with others.

Hopefully, next season will allow her to realize she is part of the family and can rely on those around her.

Charles’s Personal Life

When Charles’s daughter tells him she has a hard time talking to him because he is always in shrink mode, we understand exactly what she means. Even though we have seen him deal with personal issues, his mentality is always very professional.

However, that changes on “…Don’t You Cry” because we finally see him opening up about his past, feelings, and what led him to become a psychiatrist. The beauty of it all is that he turns to Sarah to talk about what he is going through. She is the only person who ever confronted him about his ways, so it makes sense that he feels she can give it to him straight.

Sarah does exactly the opposite. While she understands why his daughters said something like that, she tells Charles to give himself some grace. It takes him a bit to come to that conclusion, but he does because he knows the baggage he’s been carrying.

Watching him talk to his daughter about his father’s depression, the manner in which he died, and her own depression truly allows viewers to go deeper into who Charles is beyond his profession. It is those moments that make the show worthwhile. Even though the medical cases are important, we stick around for the doctors we love.
