The two-episode 9-1-1: Contagion event concludes with the race to save Chimney and the rest of the 118 on 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 15, “Lab Rats.”
With the team stuck in the bio lab after the explosion on 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 14, “Sick Day,” Athena and Buck must work fast to find the antiviral and a way out.
The promo video doesn’t reveal much about their such, but it does reveal Bobby letting Maddie know that Athena is on her way to Chimney with the cure. That’s a relief since the promo also shows Maddie informing the team that Chimney is already in the second phase of the deadly virus — organ failure.
The photos tease that “Lab Rats” will see Athena and Buck teaming up with Officer Williams. Chris Wu last appeared in the role on 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 6, “There Goes the Groom.” It’s even more exciting that Athena and Buck will turn to one of the show’s brightest minds — Tracie Thoms’s Karen Wilson.
So, even though there is a lot of optimism in the promotional material, the promo video says, “Think you know the ending? You’re dead wrong.” That feels like a flashing warning sign when paired with those devastating reactions from Buck and Hen in the promo video. What or who could have caused them?
