Matlock, Previews

With the race for partner heating up, Olympia makes a move to impress the board on Matlock Season 1 Episode 16, “The Johnson Case.”

After securing a massive settlement in her class action lawsuit against Slammed, Olympia remained competitive in her campaign to become the next partner at the firm.

Building on that success, Olympia deviates from her normal pro-bono class actions for her next case. Instead, she takes a complicated murder case, hoping to strengthen her argument for being named partner over Julian.

What Happened on the Previous Episode?

Previously on Matlock, Olympia won her big class action lawsuit against the energy drink Slammed. Despite Senior undermining her and almost forcing her to take a settlement that would have had the firm break even, Olympia secured a very substantial settlement from the company.

Bringing that kind of money to the firm should have given Olympia the edge in her race for partner against Julian. But Julian has plans and moves of his own, meaning the race remains as competitive as ever.

Matlock Season 1 Episode 15, “Game Face,” was not Matty’s finest hour. After concluding on Matlock Season 1 Episode 14, “Game Day,” that Olympia was the most likely suspect in the Welbrexa cover-up, Matty struggled to keep her calm.

She let her feelings of betrayal affect the way she acted around Olympia. And Olympia noticed. It got so bad that the two argued, and Olympia sent Matty home for the day.

Luckily, Matty let her feelings out during a heart-to-heart with her sister and got her act together. By the end of the episode, she had patched things up with Olympia and was back in her good graces.

The big development on “Game Face,” though, was the revelation that Mrs. B from Jacobson Moores’ HR department was the one who sent Matty the tip about the cover-up that started her whole plan in motion.

Using Mrs. B’s love of Barry Manilow to convince her to come forward, it looks like Matty will have an ally in the firm now.
