The Equalizer Season 5 Episode 9 Review: Stolen Angel
The Equalizer Season 5 Episode 9, “Stolen Angel,” clearly shows that Robyn’s mission has always been to help those the police forget about. Even though she has paired up with the NYPD and FBI, thanks to Dante many times, she is still the one showing up for the forgotten ones.
Equalizing is about showing up for the most vulnerable communities and helping them when no one else will. On “Stole Angels,” Robyn and Melody do that for a woman who has been kidnapped with the intent of stealing her unborn child.
While the police don’t qualify recovering addicts as a top priority, the equalizing team goes as far as they have to to help these women and their babies. That is what makes the show work so perfectly.

While the first part of The Equalizer Season 5 focused heavily on the disrupture of Mel and Robyn’s bond after Mel decided to take a step back, The Equalizer Season 5 Episode 9, “Stolen Angel,” showcases how strong that bond is again.
With a few exceptions here and there, Robyn usually shows up alone to fight the bad guys. Part of that is because she believes she can take them, but also because she doesn’t want to risk anyone else’s life. However, it’s always been obvious that she cannot handle everything alone.
The beauty of this episode is that Mel and Robyn show up together in every dangerous situation. By teaming up, they’re bringing their set of skills together and maximizing their opportunity to find Maya and her baby before it’s too late.
However, by working together, they also show how important it is for Robyn to have her own team. Without Mel there, Robyn wouldn’t have been able to take Regina down, catch the lawyer, and save Maya’s life. She needs the reinforcement of her best friend.
The fact that the two of them can work in sync shows that their bond is back to what it was when the show started. They overcame the awkwardness they were navigating through when Mel first decided to take a step back.
Truthfully, The Equalizer is about strong women, and their friendship is one of the biggest proofs of that.

Up to this point, Dante’s character development had always been connected to his job. When Big Ben first showed up, viewers got to see glimpses of his personal life and the pain that drives his character.
On The Equalizer Season 5 Episode 9, “Stolen Angel,” Dante’s appearances are all connected to his personal life rather than his professional one. This allows us to better understand his character, his feelings toward his father, and how he reacts to meeting his brother.
If this is the man who becomes the main character’s love interest, viewers need to get to know him better and understand what motivates, inspires, and pushes him to behave in certain ways. By giving us a look into his relationship with his father and how he feels about his brother, we can connect with him on a different level.
What is remarkable about Dante is that he has always been honest with Robyn. He told her when he couldn’t stand what she was doing before they became friends. He expressed his feelings for her and made it clear when he felt a long-distance relationship wouldn’t work.
Now, he is open about the fact that he does want to be with her. But he is also honest about his feelings for his father and brother. It seems with Robyn, he can be his true self, allowing her (and us) to see him for who he is behind the badge.

With Delilah’s storyline on The Equalizer Season 5 Episode 9, “Stolen Angel,” the show is preparing us for when she goes to college. It will be interesting to see if she stays in the city and keeps showing up on every episode or if she’ll move away and her presence will be sporadical.
What would absolutely change with Delilah moving away is Aunt Vi’s appearance on the show. While she has had moments of solo storylines, most of what she does is directly connected to Delilah. If the girl is gone, what becomes of this character?
