Matlock returns from its winter hiatus with Matlock Season 1 Episode 9, “Friends.”

When we last saw Matty and the rest of the Jacobson Moore crew, Matty had made significant progress in her mission to expose the person who covered up Wellbrexa documents.

After helping the Pharmaceutical team win a major case, she further solidified her relationship with Julian by promising the same loyalty she gave Olympia when she worked for him.

She even used that moment to plant a microphone in Julian’s office. After the series’ winter hiatus, Matty is poised to make some significant progress during the second half of the season. But as she gets closer, the mission will only get harder. 

First, there is her relationship with Olympia, which has grown significantly since Matty barged into that conference room on Matlock Season 1 Episode 1, “Pilot.” The more trust Matty builds with Olympia, the more access she has to the resources she needs, but the harder it will be for her to continue lying to her.

Not to mention how devastating it would be for both women if Olympia found out that Matty had lied to her or if Matty found out Olympia was involved in the cover-up. 

In addition to the emotional burden of her mission, being undercover and trying to expose a giant law firm comes with some more tangible risks, too, something Edwin has on his mind during “Friends.” What would Senior do to Matty if he found out what she’s up to? How far would Senior go to protect his firm?
