Grimm Reboot Movie in Development at Peacock

Grimm, News

Grimm is immortal, after all.

Deadline exclusively reported that the fantasy police procedural drama series is returning as a movie on Peacock.

While plot details are still under wraps, TV Line confirms that Drop Dead Diva creator Josh Berman will pen the script. Berman will also executive produce the new project with Grimm‘s original creative team — co-creators, executive producers, and showrunners David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf.

Returning executive producers Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner’s Hazy Mills Productions and Universal Television will also be the movie’s executive producers.

Grimm, which ran for six seasons and 123 episodes on NBC, followed David Giuntoli as Nick Burkhardt, a Portland Homicide Detective born into a legacy of Grimms who hunt fairytale monsters known as Wesen.

The show also starred Silas Weir Mitchell, Russell Hornsby, Bitsie Tulloch, Sasha Roiz, Reggie Lee, Bree Turner, and Claire Coffee.

Tulloch shared the news on X, writing, “#Grimm fans – good news!! Spinoff in the works!”

This movie isn’t the first time a Grimm spinoff has been in the works. NBC had plans for a female-led spinoff series from writer and executive producer Melissa Glenn in 2018. However, that show never made it past development.

The series ended with Grimm Season 6 Episode 13, “The End,” in 2017. “Our ending was deliberately very fairy tale-esque. We like to think our characters just kept on going, and never died, executive producer David Greenwalt told The Hollywood Reporter at the time.

“We wanted to come full circle and also take things into the future. I think fans had a right to expect us to do that. They had a right to expect that Nick would be tested to his core but ultimately survive,” Greenwalt added.

Deadline reports that this Peacock movie “is believed to have ties to the series for diehard fans but could also be easily accessed by new viewers not familiar with the original mythology as it introduces new mythology and characters.” Reportedly, the movie’s success could launch a Grimm franchise.

Grimm is streaming on Peacock.
