Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 Adds Rosemarie DeWitt as Circe and More
Some of the residents of the Sea of Monsters have been found for Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2! Today, Disney+ has announced four new actors who will be joining Season 2, including Pantheon‘s Rosemarie DeWitt.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that DeWitt has been cast as C.C., better known as the sorceress Circe. In author Rick Riordan’s second book, The Sea of Monsters, Circe runs an island-exclusive tropical resort used to lure and trap travelers.
Additionally, Snowpiercer‘s Aleks Paunovic, Beatrice Kitsos, and Kevin Chacon have also joined Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2.

Paunovic will be joining Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 as Polyphemus, the gigantic cyclops from Greek mythology who stole the Golden Fleece. Polyphemus was a shepherd who feigned hospitality towards Odysseus and his men, but was eventually defeated by the Greek hero.
In The Sea of Monsters, it’s revealed that Polyphemus had trapped Grover Underwood on his island. However, Grover had only survived for so long by tricking him into believing he was his wife. Additionally, Polyphemus kept the Fleece under his watchful eye until Percy and his friends eventually saved Grover.
Chacon will be portraying Chris Rodriguez, previously portrayed by Andrew Alvarez in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 1.
The character only made a brief appearance on Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 1 Episode 2 “I Become Supreme Lord of the Bathroom”.
However, in The Sea of Monsters, Chris has a much more involved role as he joins Luke Castellan’s side to stop Percy Jackson’s mission at all costs.

Meanwhile, Kitsos will be portraying an original character not seen in the Percy Jackson books: Alison Simms. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Alison is “a Camp Half-Blood ‘graduate’ who lives in the human world but is a true believer in the world Kronos is promising and aligns herself with Luke.”
Most demigods do not live past twenty years in the lore of Riordan’s Percy Jackson universe. However, those that do are less tethered to the mythological world, are less likely to be attacked or even retain their powers. However, this case seems to be different in the cast of Alison.
Supposing that Alison has the same grudge towards the Olympian gods as much as Luke did when she left Camp Half-Blood, it makes her motivation very clear. There could be a possible scene or line of dialogue that explains how she has been trying to communicate with her godly parent after all this time.

Due to this distant parenting, it would make sense for Kronos to begin manipulating Alison, Luke, and many others to carry out his plan. However, her connection to this magical realm remains unknown. She could likely have a magical item when she left Camp Half-Blood that keeps her tied.
Nonetheless, with this new character, Rick Riordan’s promise to add original elements in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 remains true. Though Season 2 is still in development, fans may expect this story to come sooner than expected!
