Is the stress from her mission at Jacobson Moore becoming too much for Matty on Matlock Season 1 Episode 6, “Sixteen Steps?”

The series has made clear that Matty’s task of infiltrating Jacobson Moore and obtaining justice for her daughter is difficult. We have already seen a handful of scenes in which the pressure and emotional strain have taken a toll on Matty and her family.

On Matlock Season 1 Episode 4, “The Rabbit and the Hawk,” Matty’s marriage is threatened after she takes her grandson’s involvement in things too far. That episode ends with Edwin and Matty’s reconciliation and results in more involvement from Edwin.

However, Matlock Season 1 Episode 5, “Claws,” hits dangerously close to home for Edwin and Matty. The pair are put through the emotional ringer. It’s no surprise that after that experience, Matty feels overwhelmed and unsure if she can continue.

Since we are only six episodes into the season, we can be sure Matty will find a way to persevere on “Sixteen Steps.” Still, the current situation is unsustainable, and whether it’s on this episode or a future one, something has to change if she is to succeed.

Elsewhere on “Sixteen Steps,” Olympia and Julian work on an old case together, and viewers get insight into their marriage. More specifically, they will see why it didn’t work.

Episode description:

As Olympia and Julian get a second shot at a case regarding a tragic death due to contaminated baby formula, their past work on the investigation gives glimpses into what led to their divorce. Also, Matty’s overwhelming stress causes her to consider quitting.
