The episode’s title may refer to the nature of the missing woman’s mental illness and how she ends up missing. However, the word “haunted” just as easily applies to Margaret, who appears to take center stage on the episode.
It’s unsurprising that the climax of the first half of the season focuses on Margaret’s delicate mental state. Everything has been leading to this.
Between Gabi’s confession and losing access to the train station, Margaret lost everything that provided her with stability. While she has managed to come through for the cases the team has worked on, her mental state has been declining all season.
It was only a matter of time before all that came to a head for her. Will “Missing While Haunted” be the breaking point Margaret needs to turn the corner and start healing? Or, is it just the beginning of an even larger spiral that will play out during the season’s second half?
