Invincible Season 3 Premiere Date and Teaser Trailer Released by Prime Video

News

Invincible has released a teaser for its third season.

The new season of the animated superhero show based on Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley’s Image Comic series arrives on Prime Video on Thursday, February 6, 2025. New episodes will drop weekly through Thursday, March 13.

The comic and show follow Mark Grayson/Invincible (Steven Yeun), son of the Superman-like hero Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons), and his Peter Parker-esque superhero struggles.

Fans of Invincible who dreaded the wait for Season 3 would last as long as the two-year gap between Seasons 1 and 2 have nothing to fear. The teaser also reassures that this time, there will be no mid-season break like the one that Invincible Season 2 took.

The teaser opens with Mark, in costume, sitting in a diner when his government handler Cecil Stedman (Walton Goggins) teleports in. After a joke from the comic that each teleportation costs more money than the GDP of Liechtenstein, Cecil scolds Mark for slacking off.

At this point, one could think the teaser is a clipped excerpt from the upcoming season. Instead, it appears to be an original animation designed explicitly as a teaser. Cecil’s scolding of Mark for slacking off is a meta-joke about impatient fans hungry for more.

In particular, Mark explains himself by saying he (read: the show’s staff) has been “busy writing, designing, storyboarding, voice acting, key posing,” accompanied by a montage of the show’s team doing just those things.

The teaser’s humor is underlined with chibi imagination spots, the kind seen in Teen Titans or a shonen anime.

Since the teaser doesn’t include scenes from Invincible Season 3 itself, what can fans expect? The corresponding poster shows Mark ditching his yellow-and-blue outfit for the blue-and-darker-blue one he wore at the mid-stretch of the comic.

Cecil also reminds Mark of what happened in Invincible Season 2 Episode 7, “I’m Not Going Anywhere.” Omni-Man, and by extension Invincible, are members of the warrior race, the Viltrumites. One Viltrumite, Anissa (Shantel VanSanten), visited Earth and easily bested Mark in “I’m Not Going Anywhere.”

Anissa promised someone worse would come next time, a threat Cecil brings up.

Between this tease, how far along the series is compared to the comic, and Invincible’s new costume, the third season may adapt the “Conquest” arc, in which the eponymous Viltrumite comes to Earth and gives Mark his toughest challenge yet. However, nothing has been confirmed yet.
