Cruel Intentions Premiere Date and Trailer Released by Prime Video
Cruel Intentions is back — 25 years later!
Though some details hark back to the 1999 movie of the same name (that cover of The Verve’s “Bittersweet Symphony!”), this Prime Video series offers a new, Greek-life-centric take on the cult classic. All eight episodes of Cruel Intensions premiere on Thursday, November 21, on Prime Video.

The adaptation takes place at “Manchester College, a Washington, D.C.-adjacent university, where reputation means everything, fraternities and sororities are the gold standard, and two ruthless step-siblings, Caroline Merteuil and Lucien Belmont, will do anything to stay on top of the cutthroat social hierarchy.”
“After a brutal hazing incident threatens the entire Greek Life system, they’ll do whatever is necessary to preserve their power and reputation – even if that means seducing Annie Grover, the daughter of the Vice President of the United States,” per the show’s description.
“Hearts will be broken, loyalties will be tested, and secrets will be revealed in this modern-day royal court that is Manchester College.”
The Cruel Intentions trailer shows an incident where a student is seemingly seriously injured or killed during a fraternity’s hazing. It then sees Caroline put her plan in motion to win over Annie to ensure Greek life, among other things, thrives at their college. After all, Caroline “always” gets what she wants.

Cruel Intentions stars First Kill‘s Sarah Catherine Hook as Caroline Merteuil, Boy Swallows Universe‘s Zac Burgess as Lucien Belmont, and Gossip Girl‘s Savannah Lee Smith as Annie Grover.
The cast also includes Sara Silva as Cece Carroway, 9-1-1‘s John Harlan Kim as Blaise Powell, Firefly Lane‘s Khobe Clarke as Scott Russell, and YOU‘s Brooke Lena Johnson as Beatrice Worth. Sean Patrick Thomas, who starred in the original film, plays Professor Hank Chadwick on the Prime Video series.
Sara Goodman (The Hardy Boys) and Phoebe Fisher (Prime Video’s I Know What You Did Last Summer) are the co-showrunners, writers, and executive producers of Cruel Intentions. Sony Pictures Television, Amazon MGM Studios, and Original Film produce the series.
Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty of Original Film executive produce along with Roger Kumble. Moritz produced the original film, which was written and directed by Kumble. Bruce Mellon along with Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi of Iervolino & Bacardi Entertainment are producers.
