Creature Commandos Premiere Date Announced by Max
There’s a new sneak peek of the upcoming Creature Commandos adult animated series. Max has released a new photo and unveiled the show’s launch date.
Creature Commandos will premiere on Thursday, December 5, on Max. The streamer will release one episode weekly until Thursday, January 16, 2025.
The series is based on characters from DC Comics. The new photo gives fans a new look at Dr. Phosphorus, a skeleton surrounded by green flames wearing a scientist’s coat.
Phosphorus will join the ensemble, which includes other classic monsters as seen in other media. Other monsters on Creature Commandos include Frankenstein’s monster, a gill woman, and a weasel.
Creature Commandos is a seven-episode series about the monster team’s exploits following Amanda Waller’s orders for the US Government.
From San Diego Comic-Con 2024, Max shared a trailer for the series, highlighting its animation and tone. That news didn’t come with a release date, and the footage only shared that the series will air starting in December.
Variety reports that the show takes place in the new DC Expanded Universe, the same universe in which all the upcoming DC films will take place.

Filmmaker James Gunn is spearheading Creature Commandos, the first entry of the new DCU. Gunn is also the writer and executive producer of the upcoming animated series.
Other executive producers for the series include Gunn’s DC partner, Peter Safran, plus Dean Lorey and Sam Register. Rick Morales will also serve as a supervising producer for the show.
Gunn will follow up the series with his new Superman film and a second season of Peacemaker.
The show’s voice cast includes Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., David Harbour as Frankenstein, Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus, Indira Varma as The Bride, Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana, Anya Chalotra as Circe, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, Sean Gunn as GI Robot & Weasel, Steve Agee as Economos, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.
