Welcome to a new week and another round of What to Watch on TV! Our picks for the week of August 25th include series finales to accompany the end of the month, the return of a fabulous trio, and series premieres that will keep audiences engaged.

Here are our recommendations for what to watch on TV this week:

City of God: The Fight Rages On – Sunday, August 25th

MAX’s new series picks up where the movie City of God left off. The series will follow Buscapé and the conflicts between militias, traffickers, and the police. City of God: The Fight Rages On premieres Sunday, August 25th at 8/7c on HBO and will be streaming on MAX.

Series Description: Twenty years after City of God, Buscapé recounts how conflicts between police, traffickers, and militias impacted the community.

Orphan Black: Echoes – Sunday, August 25th

Lucy must make a tough decision after Charlie is kidnapped. Meanwhile, Kira and Eleanor discover what’s going on with the 12 unidentifiable files. Orphan Black: Echoes Season 1 finale airs Sunday, August 25th at 10/9c on AMC and BBC America.

Episode Description: When Charlie gets kidnapped, Lucy is left with a difficult choice; Kira and Eleanor finally uncover the connection between the 12 unidentifiable files and Darros’s bigger plan, but it may be too late to stop him.

The Sommerdahl Murders – Monday, August 26th

This Danish series is having its American premiere of Season 5 and picks up right where it left off. Even though the characters believe they’re up for a good time at the funfair, the employee at the shooting booth gets shot and killed. Did the killer get the right person? The Sommerdahl Murders Season 5 premieres Monday, August 26th on Acorn TV.

Episode Description: The funfair has come to Helsingor. Soon, however, joy and laughter are replaced by screams. An employee has been shot during his shift at the shooting booth, but doubt as to whether the killer got the right person quickly arises.

61st Street – Monday, August 26th

Even though Franklin’s goal is to make a case against the Chicago Police Department as a whole, it is Officer Logan who gets outed as the bad apple. 61st Street Season 2 Episode 6, “Argue the Facts,” airs Monday, August 26th at 9/8c on The CW.

Episode Description: The trial begins and Officer Logan is outed as the `bad apple’ of the CPD, while Franklin makes a case against the department as a whole.

Only Murders in the Building – Tuesday, August 27th

Everyone’s favorite trio is back for another season. Charles, Oliver, and Mable make their way to LA as a film studio wants to turn their podcast into a movie. But even on the other side of the country, there are still clues to follow to solve Sazz’s murder. Only Murders in the Building Season 4 premieres Tuesday, August 27th on Hulu.

After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun – Wednesday, August 28th

If you’re interested in following Baywatch‘s success and better understanding why the show was such a hit, this is the series for you. After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun premieres Wednesday, August 28th on Hulu.

Bad Monkey – Wednesday, August 28th

Eve and Nick’s origins, Yancy’s suspension, and Nick and Izzy’s business dealings are revealed in flashbacks. Bad Monkey Season 1 Episode 4, “Nothing’s Wrong With It, I Just Don’t Need It Anymore,” is available for streaming Wednesday, August 28th on Apple TV+.

Episode Description: A flashback reveals Eve and Nick’s origins, how Yancy got suspended, and Nick and Izzy’s nefarious business dealings.

After a two-year hiatus, the series continues with the story. More episodes and more adventures following everyone’s favorite characters from J.R.R. Tolkien’s world. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 premieres its first three episodes on Thursday, August 29th on Amazon Prime Video.

Series Description: This series brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Greek gods are brought back to life in a contemporary reimagination. This dark comedy will explore gender, politics, power, and life in the underworld. Kaos premieres Thursday, August 29th on Netflix.

Series Description: A darkly comedic and contemporary reimagining of Greek mythology, exploring themes of gender politics, power, and life in the underworld; six humans learn that they are component parts of an ancient prophecy.

Breathless – Friday, August 30th

When a high-society patient arrives at Joaquín Sorolla Hospital several issues with public health come to light. Meanwhile, Biel, a resident at a public hospital, considers joining the strike for better healthcare. Breathless premieres Friday, August 30th on Netflix.

The Serpent Queen – Friday, August 30th

After Catherine faces political manipulations and betrayal and has to strategize to secure power, The Serpent Queen Season 2 is coming to an end. Will Queen Elizabeth’s schemes continue? The Serpent Queen Season 2 finale airs Friday, August 30th at 8/7c on Starz.

Series Description: Series based on Leonie Frieda’s book “Catherine de Medici: Renaissance Queen of France.”

Head Over Heels – Saturday, August 31st

Addison’s life seems to be going in the right direction when she is hired for the job of her dreams. However, as her career grows, she wonders if she’ll be able to achieve the work/life balance she needs to let romance into her life. Head Over Heels premieres Saturday, August 31st at 8/7c on Hallmark Channel.

Movie Description: Addison’s dream comes true when luxury shoe designer Delaney Diaz hires her, thanks to PR guru Austin. But will she be able to achieve a work/life balance while also considering a new romance? Starring Rebecca Dalton and Olivier Renaud.
