Ted Lasso Potential Season 4 Greenlight Receives Mixed Fan Reactions

News, Ted Lasso

That’s right: the AFC Richmond Greyhounds might be back for another round as Apple TV+ seems to be considering Ted Lasso Season 4!

According to Deadline, Warner Bros. Television is looking to bring back Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift for a new season, and the studio is expected to start reaching out to other actors.

Presumably, that will include co-creators/executive producers Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt, as well as Juno Temple.

With the unexpected announcement of Ted Lasso‘s potential renewal, many took to social media to share their excitement about their favorite team potentially returning in the future.

Nick Mohammed, who stars in the show as West Ham United’s former head coach Nate Shelley, took to X and celebrated the announcement by simply stating, “Told ya!”

Former ComicBook host Brandon Davis also shared his own excitement on X about the show’s renewal as well. “Ted Lasso Season 4 coming to save us all,” he wrote.

On the other hand, X user @uhdresejwrites joked about Ted Lasso‘s update with The Bear, writing that the show “couldn’t take that cooking show winning Comedy awards and said hold my biscuit.”

However, some shared their own reservations about Ted Lasso being greenlit for another season, given how Season 3’s ending didn’t sit well for some fans.

“The [Season 3] ending was actually so evil and sinister,” X user @spidermannwh posted. “I can’t be mad at them for fixing that mess (or potentially making it worse!)”

Meanwhile, X user @lassoleil posted an image of their own concerns about what Ted Lasso Season 4 needs to do, such as letting Waddingham’s Rebecca “be happy,” provide real character development, and divorcing BHunt’s Coach Beard and Phoebe Walsh’s Jane.

The conclusion of Ted Lasso Season 3 Episode 12, “So Long, Farewell,” left a sour taste for some fans of the show as it left its main characters in very different places and kept some dynamics open for more exploration.

Aside from Ted going back to coaching, albeit for Henry’s (Gus Turner) little league, the relationship between Goldstein’s Roy Kent, Phil Dunster’s Jamie Tartt, and Juno Temple’s Keeley Jones was still left open.

Furthermore, some fans were left concerned about the dream-like sequence that presented Coach Beard’s wedding. X user @Uber_Kryptonian, for instance, pointed out the scene’s editing choices and Ted not being present.

With Ted Lasso Season 4 looking to go ahead, fans also hope that the show could rectify and further cement certain elements left in Season 3. Nonetheless, fans should expect more updates about the newest season coming forward in the future!

Ted Lasso is currently streaming on Apple TV+.
