Tim Rozon and Melanie Scrofano Tease New Romantic Hurdles and Hats in ‘Wynonna Earp: Vengeance’ | San Diego Comic-Con
Four years after riding off into the sunset together, Wynonna Earp’s underdog couple are prepared to keep fighting for that happy ending.
Tim Rozon (Doc Holliday) and Melanie Scrofano (Wynonna Earp) spoke with reporters during a roundtable interview for Tubi’s new special, Wynonna Earp: Vengeance, at San Diego Comic-Con.
The two actors had plenty to tease about everyone’s favorite dysfunctional demon slayer/reformed vampire duo. (You can watch the full interview below.)
When asked what new facets of Doc and Wynonna the special will explore, Scrofano and Rozon confirmed we will explore the aftermath of their happy ending and the unique challenges that come with being a couple.

“So we spent four seasons trying to come together. And now we get to see these characters and what they’re like when they’re together. And what that kind of looks like,” Scrofano explained.
Rozon looked to a previous comment Scrofano made about the couple’s growth because it was “my favorite thing I’ve ever heard,” the actor gushed.
“Even if you do choose love, it doesn’t make it any easier. I think that’s where the characters are. We’ve chosen love, we’ve done what you’re supposed to do. We’ve literally rode off into the sunset on the back of her Harley — I was there — and we rode off together,” Rozon explained.
“We both chose love, but that doesn’t mean just because you made that choice, it’s going to make things easy. It’s great to explore those things.”

Rozon and Scrofano are basically Canadian royalty for the many iconic Canadian shows they’ve worked on in addition to Wynonna Earp — Schitt’s Creek, Letterkenny, and SurrealEstate, to name a few.
The actors agree that the industry continues to lend a certain magic and tenacity to projects like Wynonna Earp: Vengeance.
“A lot of times, because we don’t have the money to throw at problems, you have to have love and people who want to be there. You have to be able to problem-solve, and I think that makes for really interesting, unexpected television,” Scrofano said.
“If we could just go, ‘Wynonna goes on a jet,’ well, then if we had the money, we’d get the jet. But we don’t have the jet. So how do we tell this story in a way that fits? And it forces us to be really creative.”
“I’ve done some other stuff with bigger budgets, and it doesn’t feel the same,” Rozon admitted. “And we do amazing stuff — the trailer looks great! There’s just something magical about it, and you don’t always get the cast that we get. We still check in with each other, and we’ve been through so much. You [Scrofano] and I have been through so much.”
“And I like where it has gotten us,” Scrofano added.

Despite past outcry from Earpers over Doc changing his legendary cowboy hat, two new hats are coming in the special. However, the cast promises these changes will be worth the hassle.
“I’m going to spoil it because it’s in the trailer — I got a new hat made!” Rozon announced.
“There was a Hat Gate before when Doc changed his hat. We really went back to the first hat for how much Hat Gate occurred and hate for the replacement hat — and they went back to the old hat. So I was a little nervous about getting a new hat but they literally brought in Calgary’s best hat maker and I had a hat custom-made to my head and I got to pick the specs and everything. It was amazing. So I’m super stoked by that.”
With a grin, Scrofano added, “I have a pretty cool new hat too, actually…”
After a beat of silence, Rozon said, “Oh my goodness!” before excitedly revealing, “that’s a spoiler. But you’ll get it later.”
