Ryan Eggold will return to NBC with a guest starring role on Law & Order Season 24.

TV Line reports that Eggold will appear in an episode as Matt Riley, Det. Vince Riley’s brother. This casting marks Eggold’s return to live-action TV after his five-season run as Dr. Max Goodwin on NBC’s medical drama New Amsterdam.

He isn’t the only one joining Law & Order during its upcoming season. Deadline reports that Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’s Mariska Hargitay and Elizabeth Marvel will appear as guest stars.

Before Eggold’s appearance, Hargitay will appear as Captain Olivia Benson in an October episode. Marvel will reprise her SVU role as Attorney Rita Calhoun in the same hour.

Marvel portrayed that role in more than a dozen episodes from 2010 to 2021.

The trio joins ER alum Maura Tierney, who joins Law & Order Season 24 as a series regular, per NBC Insider. Tierney will star as the new lieutenant.

Meanwhile, after more than 400 episodes, Sam Waterston exited as District Attorney Jack McCoy on Law & Order Season 23 Episode 5, “Last Dance,” in February 2024.

He will return on Law & Order Season 24 alongside Hugh Dancy, Odelya Halevi, Mehcad Brooks, and Reid Scott.
