Billy Crystal-Led ‘Before’ Premiere Date Announced by Apple TV+

Apple TV+ has released a first look at the limited series Before starring Billy Crystal.

The new psychological thriller from Paramount Television Studios will debut this fall on the streamer. 

Before will have a two-episode premiere on Friday, October 25, on Apple TV+. New episodes of the 10-episode season will stream weekly through Friday, December 20.

The chilling series unravels a supernatural mystery after Crystal’s Eli, a child psychologist, loses his wife, Lynn. Eli “encounters a troubled young boy, Noah, who seems to have a haunting connection to Eli’s past,” per the show’s logline.

“As Eli attempts to help Noah, their mysterious bond deepens,” the logline continued. 

Alongside the multi-award-winning actor, comedian, and filmmaker Billy Crystal, Before stars Judith Light as Lynn and Jacobi Jupe as Noah.  Rosie Perez, Maria Dizzie, and Ava Lalezarzadeh also star.

Apple TV+ hasn’t released a trailer for the mystery series created by Sarah Thorp, but it has shared four first-look photos of what Apple TV+ calls “an atmospheric, character-driven psychological thriller.”

The photos leave much of the mystery up to interpretation ahead of the show’s premiere, but they do showcase the bond forming between Eli and Noah.

Deadline exclusively reported when Crystal joined Before in June 2022. Crystal’s leading role on the Apple TV+ drama is noteworthy because it joins only a few TV credits (ABC’s Soap being one) in which Crystal doesn’t appear as some version of himself. 

The outlet would later exclusively share when Perez joined in January 2024, and they followed up with the news about Jupe, Dizzie, and Lalezarzadeh’s casting later that month. Deadline also reported that Hope Davis would recur on the show.

Creator Sarah Thorp also serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Crystal executive produces alongside Eric Roth, the show’s pilot director Adam Bernstein, and producing director Jet Wilkinson.
