Countdown, Starring Jensen Ackles, Ordered to Series at Prime Video

Countdown has been ordered to series at Prime Video, and its star has been found in Jensen Ackles.

Derek Haas (One Chicago, FBI: International) created the series that will be Ackles’s first leading role since his tenure as Dean Winchester on The CW’s Supernatural

Jensen Ackles stars as LAPD officer Mark Meachum, who is “recruited to join a secret task force of undercover agents from all branches of law enforcement to investigate” after “a suspicious murder in broad daylight,” per its synopsis.

“But as the truth of a more sinister plot comes into focus, the team must overcome their conflicting personal agendas to unite and save a city of millions.”

The 13-episode series is the first under Haas’ exclusive overall deal with Amazon MGM Studios. Countdown was developed for Ackles, who has a first-look television deal with the studio.

The actor recently appeared on The Boys Season 3 as Soldier Boy and reprised the role on Gen V Season 1 Episode 6, “Jumanji,” in October 2023.

“I had an incredible experience working with the Prime Video team on The Boys and am delighted to be able to continue that relationship on Countdown. I simply cannot wait to partner with Derek and the rest of our Countdown family to bring this story to life, ” Jensen Ackles said.

Derek Haas serves as executive producer and showrunner on Countdown. The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios.

Countdown will premiere on Prime Video.
