The Equalizer Season 4 Episode 3 Review: Bind Justice
The Equalizer Season 4 Episode 3, “Bind Justice,” highlights the importance of having a support group veterans can turn to when coming home. While working on this week’s case, Mel realizes there is more she wants to do to help those who served like her.
Robyn feels personally connected to the case while Dante is trying to figure out his feelings for her and how to balance the equalizer work with his job at the NYPD.
In the meantime, Delilah and Aunt Vi help an old neighbor who is being scammed at the retirement home he is living at. Everyone stays busy and delivers great results.
Mel’s Power

The Equalizer Season 4 Episode 3, “Bind Justice,” focuses heavily on Mel, the kind of person she is, what she cares about, and her relationship with Harry.
The truth is that the show wouldn’t be the same without Mel, and Robyn wouldn’t be able to do her job as well as she does without the support of her friend. However, on this episode, we see Mel for who she is separately of Robyn and what they do.
No one can deny she is a great sniper and her experience serving the country has prepared her for this job. But what makes Mel so powerful is the way she cares about every person involved in the cases they work.
Because she shows special interest in what’s going on in Clay’s life after serving, they can piece the puzzle together and find out what motivates him to try and sell the thumb drive to Mo.
The fact that she spends most of the episode trying to help Clay and then talking about starting a veteran support group helps us understand Mel a bit further. Until now, we knew about her past, her friendship with Robyn, and her relationship with Harry, but this helps us see her as an individual person.
Hopefully, the rest of The Equalizer Season 4 will continue to give us an inside look at who Mel is and why she chooses to help Robyn.
It Gets Personal

Robyn handles every case with precision and care, but Michael’s case hits close to home, and it becomes more personal. Ever since The Equalizer premiered, we have known that the death of her father affected her greatly.
It wasn’t until The Equalizer Season 3 Episode 17, “Justified,” that she found out what happened to him and was able to bring his killer to justice. Nevertheless, this affects everything she does, and it is obvious on “Bind Justice.”
She makes it clear when she tells Mel and Harry that she has to take the case because as a daughter she knows what it is like to have your father die and have no answers as to why. From that moment on, she does everything for Mary.
When she finally meets Mary, she mentions she had a special dad like Robyn’s. Once again, this proves the case felt personal to her. The same way she worked so hard to find her dad’s killer, she works on this episode to find Michael’s.
It is clear that she doesn’t want Mary to have to go most of her life not knowing what happened to her dad. She gives the little girl the justice and the answers she wishes she could have gotten when she was a girl.
Dante and Robyn: A Possible Love Story

On The Equalizer Season 1, Robyn and Dante didn’t agree with one another because he believed what she was doing was illegal. As the seasons went by, he got more used to the idea of an equalizer because he saw the good she did.
On The Equalizer Season 4 Episode 1, “Truth for a Truth,” he officially joins the team. Now, he is working side-by-side with the trio to solve the cases.
However, it is obvious that something else is brewing between the two. On “Bind Truth,” Dante calls Harry to figure out what it is he said about Robyn when he was drugged, but Harry tells him he should be talking to someone else.
This interaction tells us the show might be getting ready to finally address the big elephant in the room: is this a romantic relationship?
Things won’t be easy for the pair as Dante’s captain is making it clear that she won’t accept his equalizer friend in the precinct. Robyn says they should be less public about their collaboration, and Dante jokes about being careful cause people may start talking.
Even though he tells her they need to grab a drink to discuss a few things, we don’t see this happening on The Equalizer Season 4 Episode 3, “Bind Justice,” but it will probably pop up again on a later episode.

The Equalizer Season 4 has been delivering action-packed episodes with an emotional side. While most viewers tune in for the action, those who are tuning in for the characters’ personal lives are getting what they want.
Hopefully, the season will keep up, and we will continue to get more of our favorite characters.
Stray Observations:
- Robyn’s ability to go undercover and become anyone she wants is quite remarkable and is definitely what helps her solve every case.
- The best thing this season is doing is letting us see more of Aunt Vi and Delilah’s lives. These two women are a great duo. Not only are they helping other people, but they are enjoying as much of their time together as possible before Delilah decides what to do after high school.
