The Good Doctor to End with Season 7 on ABC
The Good Doctor‘s upcoming seventh season will be its last on ABC.
The medical drama that debuted in 2017 will conclude with Season 7 — a farewell season — that premieres on Tuesday, February 20, at 8/7c.
In the newly released promo video, The Good Doctor looks back before looking ahead to the final season. The minute-long video features scenes from the last six seasons. The final clip is a scene from Season 7 where Dr. Shaun Murphy leaves for work and says goodbye to Lea and their newborn child.

Starring Freddie Highmore as Shaun, The Good Doctor follows “a young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome, has worked tirelessly to prove to his colleagues that his extraordinary medical gifts will save lives,” per its synopsis.
“Playing Dr. Shaun Murphy has been an immense privilege and one of the most remarkable and rewarding experiences of my life,” Highmore said in a statement, per Variety.
“I will always be grateful to David, Liz, and Erin as well as the hugely talented – and lovely – cast, writers, and crew who made this show possible. Caring deeply is what got us here. Thank you to Sony and ABC, and to everyone who has watched along at home. With love from Vancouver… tequila, stat!” Highmore added.
The show’s final season stars Highmore, Paige Spara, Richard Schiff, Christina Chang, Fiona Gubelmann, Will Yun Lee, Noah Galvin, and Bria Samone Henderson. TV Line exclusively reported that The Good Doctor Season 7 will also see the return of Chuku Modu as Dr. Jared Kalu, who left the show in Season 2.
“The Good Doctor has been a once in a lifetime opportunity, but it’s time to say goodbye,” series executive producers and showrunners David Shore and Liz Feldman along with executive producer Erin Gunn said.
“We are incredibly proud of the work we’ve done and the message we’ve been privileged to be a part of,” the trio added.
“We look forward to giving our fantastic fans, the truly extraordinary Freddie Highmore, the rest of our talented actors (and friends), and the best crew in the business the series ending that you all deserve. Thank you, Sony; thank you, ABC; thank you all,” Shore, Feldman, and Gunn concluded.
