‘Sort Of’ Third and Final Season Premiere Date Announced by Max
The Peabody Award-winning series Sort Of returns for its eight-episode third and final season later this month.
Season 3 of the Max Original comedy series debuts with two episodes on Thursday, January 18. Two episodes will be released weekly through the series finale on February 8.
The newly-released trailer for Sort Of shows Sabi feeling sad but “weirdly inspired” after the death of their father, and everyone around them is recommending therapy. “I feel so much pressure not to, like, blow the fuck up,” Sabi says in the new footage.
Sort Of‘s Season 3 synopsis reads as follows:
Sabi comes to terms with feelings of grief and an unexpected sense of freedom following the death of their father. Without the constraints of living up to dad’s expectations, Sabi confronts big questions about their identity, prompting some massive life choices. In a season that has the entire ensemble grappling with aftermaths, a rebirth comes in a sort of messy, sort of hopeful, sort of Sort Of way.
The then HBO Max renewed the series, a co-production with CBC and Sphere Media, in December 2022.
“It’s been such a creative and rewarding pleasure to sink deeply into the mess of the lives of these characters in season two,” Bilal Baig, co-creator, co-showrunner, executive producer, and lead actor, said.
“And I look so forward to continuing and expanding the mess, alongside Fab, our gifted writers, the generous teams at Sphere Media, CBC and HBO Max, and our gorgeous cast and crew!” Baig added.
“Baig and Filippo, alongside our partners at CBC and Sienna Films, continue to deliver a heartfelt, empathetic and engaging story and we’re thrilled we get to continue following Sabi, their family, 7ven and the Kaneko-Bauers on their journeys in the new season,” Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content, HBO Max, said in December 2022.
Created by Bilal Baig and Fab Filippo, who also serve as showrunners and executive producers, Sort Of Season 3 is executive produced by Sphere Media’s Jennifer Kawaja and Bruno Dubé.
Sort Of Season 3 is produced with the participation of the Canada Media Fund, and the show is distributed worldwide by Sphere Media. Abacus Media Rights (an Amcomri Entertainment company) handles sales outside of the United States and Latin America.
