One Day Trailer and Premiere Date Released by Netflix
David Nicholls’s bestselling novel is getting the TV treatment with Netflix’s One Day.
The 14-episode limited series, starring Ambika Mod as Emma Morley and Leo Woodall as Dexter Mayhew, premieres on Friday, February 8 — just in time for Valentine’s Day.
One Day is a romantic drama spanning 20 years, telling the story of Emma and Dexter after they met on July 15, 1988, the night of their graduation.
“Each episode finds Dex and Em, one year older, on this one particular date, as they grow and change, move together and apart, experience joy and heartbreak,” per its synopsis.
Nicholls shared the trailer on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Deep breath. Here it is, the trailer for #OneDay, our epic story about love and friendship. @ambikamod, Leo, the whole cast are great and I’m hugely grateful to the team. All 14 eps (!) drop on @NetflixUK 8th Feb. We love it and hope you will too.”
The writer penned the script for the 2011 film adaptation directed by Lone Scherfig, which starred Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess as Em and Dex. On Netflix’s adaptation, Nicholls is an executive producer (from production company Drama Republic) alongside Roanna Benn, Jude Liknaitzky, and Nicole Taylor.
Mod’s Emma leads in One Day‘s nearly two-minute trailer — set to The Cranberries’ “Dream” — by saying, “It’s one of the great cosmic mysteries. How is it that someone can go from being a total stranger to being the most important person in your life?”
The trailer follows Em and Dex across those 20 years, through different dreams, other romantic relationships, and the confrontation(s) of their romantic feelings for each other.
Netflix’s TUDUM shares that One Day also stars Essie Davis, Tim McInnerny, Amber Grappy, Jonny Weldon, Eleanor Tomlinson, Joely Richardson, and Toby Stephens.
Nige Watson is a series producer for the romantic drama.
Molly Manners, Kate Hewitt, John Hardwick, and Luke Snellin directed the episodes. Nicole Taylor is One Day‘s lead writer, with Anna Jordan, Vinay Patel, and Bijan Sheibani.
