Christian Linke and Alex Yee created the animated series based on Riot Games’ massively popular online game League of Legends.

Arcane‘s nine-episode debut season premiered to critical acclaim and was quickly renewed for a second season in November 2021.

The Netflix series received numerous awards and nominations, including 9 Annies. The show was the first streaming series to win an Emmy for Best Animated Program at the 2022 Creative Arts ceremony.

Arcane Season 1 told the backstory of two of the game’s most popular characters, sisters Vi (Hailee Steinfeld) and Jinx (Ella Purnell). The two are torn apart and set on very different paths when they get caught in a conflict between the rich Utopian city of Piltover and its poor underbelly, Zaun.

The teasers don’t reveal much about the potential plot for Season 2; Netflix is keeping much of those details under wraps for now. Still, eagle-eyed viewers no doubt noticed the giant monster hanging over Singed’s head in the brief clip.

Nerdist reports that the character’s identity could confirm a popular fan theory.

Arcane Season 2 will see Steinfeld and Purnell return in their roles of Vi and Jinx, respectively. Also returning is Katie Leung, who voices Caitlyn Kiramman, is also returning. Caitlyn is a wealthy resident of Piltover, a member of the city’s police force known as the Enforcers, and has a brewing romance with Vi.
