The Most Memorable TV Moments of 2023 According to Tell-Tale TV Readers!
While strikes meant this year didn’t look like a typical one for the television landscape, there was still no shortage of amazing TV shows and the kinds of moments that left fans reeling.
We gave our readers the chance to submit the moments they felt were most memorable from the past year, and now we’re sharing those below.
While we weren’t able to use every submission (we have some very enthusiastic readers!), we did our best to include as many as possible. Our readers chose memorable moments from Chicago Fire, Lockwood & Co, The Summer I Turned Pretty, Succession, and more.
In no particular order, here are the most memorable TV moments of 2023, according to Tell-Tale TV Readers:
Chicago Fire’s Proposal
On the Chicago Fire Season 11 finale, Matt Casey shows up at Sylvie Brett’s apartment and gets down on one knee, asking her to marry him and become a family of 5. – Carley S.

Lockwood & Co.’s Ghost
On Lockwood & Co, George Karim is woken up by roommates and answers them without putting on trousers. After being told there is a ghost in Lucy’s room, he goes back in his room and comes back wearing a whole armament — but still no trousers. When Lockwood asks him about it, he simply replies, “Trousers are for wimps.” – Cindy Jordan
Lucy and Lockwood’s Sweet Moment on Lockwood & Co.
Lockwood is tending Lucy’s accidental injury after they’ve had an argument — he has changed his mind and is telling her that he believes in her. She is overwhelmed, and they both clearly feel strong attraction. But they both are too emotionally damaged to act and they draw back. It is so beautifully acted and edited it is a captivating and very emotional scene. – So_Real
Ghost’s Big Proposal
On Ghosts, Nigel wants to move in with Isaac, but Isaac “doesn’t feel that they are at that point in their relationship where he would feel comfortable cohabiting”. Then he says, “so let’s take our relationship to that stage” and gets down on one knee! – Aiko

The Kitchen Scene on Succession
It’s the kitchen scene between the three Roy siblings on Succession. Specifically, Roman desecrating Peter’s cheese is easily the most memorable scene of 2023. – Josh A.
That Pivotal Moment on The Summer I Turned Pretty
As a huge fan of the books, I was pleasantly surprised when Belly and Conrad’s winter getaway to Cousins became a moment for Belly to lose her virginity to the older Fisher brother!
While it’s not an event that takes place in the books, it allowed the series to be sex-positive with its characters, and allowed Lola Tung and Chris Briney to showcase their incredible dramatic talent as young actors. It was an awesome moment in teen television history! – Christine Laskodi
Bill and Frank’s Love Story on The Last of Us
Murray Bartlett and Nick Offerman proved that there are no small parts, not even when it comes to video games. This stand-alone love story between Frank and Bill in The Last Of Us stood with me all year. A true water-cooler moment. – Damian
Re-living the moment on NCIS: Hawai’i
Lucy and Kate are reminiscing of their first time meeting at the bar and are laughing and enjoying their time together. It shows how intimate they are together. – Ellie
A Painting and a Proposal on Our Flag Means Death
On Our Flag Means Death, after Pete tells Lucius that he focuses too much on the fact that he almost died and not on the fact that he lived, Lucius shows him he’s thankful for having him in his life by making a giant painting of him. While he’s admiring it, Lucius proposes. – Aiko
Hope for #Burzek on Chicago P.D.
A memorable moment is Kim’s therapy session on Chicago P.D. that Adam attends with her, where they both finally admit their feelings and come to a realization that they are still in love with each other. It was a moment that was seven seasons in the making ever since they broke up, and it was worth the wait. – Lexi

Returning Home on Outlander
The most memorable scene is the final scene of Outlander Season 7 Episode 8, when Jamie Fraser comes onto the deck of the ship and sees his beloved Scotland for the first time in many years — and which he thought he would never see again. – Lou
Upload’s Memorable Kiss
I was so excited when Aleesha kissed Luke on Upload. It’s been clear that Luke has some attraction to Aleesha, but we never knew how she felt. I was just as surprised as Aleesha and Luke were when she finally kissed him. – Lindsey
The Bear’s Dinner Scene
The moment when Richie really tapped into his potential and expedited the hell out of that dinner service on The Bear is the most memorable. I watched that whole scene with the biggest, goofiest grin on my face. – Lynn Ellison

Triumph and Taylor Swift on The Bear
After a triumphant night where he discovers his true gifts in the restaurant world, Richie drives home late, blasting Taylor Swift’s Love Story and taking a little jump so that sparks fly off the bottom of his car.
It is so joyful, especially because it’s Richie who has been such an angry screw-up until this episode. (And the fact that he’s listening to TS because his daughter loves her is just the icing on the cake.) – Rebecca
Queen Charlotte’s Sweet Final Scene
In the final scene, when aged Queen Charlotte joins aged Mad King George under the bed and we flash back to their connection and memories to each other as youths, the bittersweet beauty of that moment was a perfect cap on the mostly untold love story of this historic couple.
For anyone who’s ever had a loved one with dementia or other memory or mental decline issues, you can’t help but long for these perfect moments of peace and acceptance. – Reneé Lasswell
Annika’s Shocking Reveal
Annika discovers that her father is the killer they have been looking for all season. She discovers that he is responsible for the murders by seeing an eyewitness’ sketchings. – Amy T.
An Amazing Crossover on Strange New Worlds
The entire cross-over episode between the animated Lower Decks and live-action Strange New Worlds was fantastic!
Starting with the “TOS” (The Original Series) episode title of “Those Old Scientists,” to the perfect casting for live-action Boimler and Mariner (played by their voice actors, Jack Quaid and Tawny Newsome), to expertly marrying and simultaneously acknowledging the tone of both shows (Mariner pointing out that, “everyone talks so slowly and quietly here”), Jonathan Frakes (episode director and Riker-portrayer from The Next Generation) pulled off one of the most memorable, and I’m certain to become beloved, episodes in Star Trek history! – Reneé Lasswell
