Slow Horses Season 3 Episode 6 Review: Footprints
Slow Horses Season 3 Episode 6, “Footprints,” is a solid season finale. Our slow horses find their way out of another dodgy situation with a surprising amount of casualties. Thankfully, none of them our people, though.
Slow Horses Season 3 Episode 5, “Cleaning Up,” did a great job at getting everyone into a position where the finale would be action-packed in every single storyline.
Whether we’re watching Lamb’s version of Home Alone, Louisa and River arguing over who gets the gun, or Shirley being an absolute badass, each storyline keeps us on the edge of our seats, wondering how our favorite characters will make it out of this alive.

River does what he does best — ignore someone else’s advice and do what he wants.
Sure, his grandfather is suffering from dementia, but there’s no doubt that there were some truths to his warnings about leaking the file.
We can only hope to see negative repercussions on Slow Horses Season 4. It would be too easy and not at all realistic if nothing but good things happened after leaking the file.
Perhaps Diana has more pressure from the Home Secretary or there’s more media scrutiny on MI5’s operations. There needs to be at least one negative side effect. Do you think we’ll see any fallout from River’s actions next season?

As heavily hinted at, Catherine learns the truth about her favorite human being, Charles.
Honestly, I think learning Lamb killed him would’ve been less painful for her to hear than how Charles used her.
The confrontation between her and Lamb is so good. It hits all the right emotional chords, and it has us sitting on the edge of our seats wondering if Jackson will snap and share something devastating with her, or if he’ll simply be his normal, annoying self and spare her feelings.
Naturally, he goes for the jugular. Jackson Lamb is not a kind person.
Shirley: That gun you gave me, it jammed.
Marcus: Well you must have reloaded it wrong.
Shirley: Are you mansplaining a gun to me?
Marcus: Well, it’s a rifle actually.
The only bothersome part of their exchange is that Catherine hasn’t brought up Charles this much in ages. It’s overkill how she name-drops him almost every sentence. Perhaps this is done to get Lamb to snap and finally share the (partial) truth about Charles, but it’s still a bit much.
Overall, Slow Horses Season 3 is decent. It features everything we’ve come to know and love with this show. The “case” of the season isn’t particularly special, but it provides the opportunity for great moments between our slow horses.
I enjoyed Louisa and River being partnered up for so much of the season, and Shirley and Marcus are a fun pair. Next season, I’d love to see Roddy out in the field with someone new.
The one thing I’m still not entirely sure about its purpose is the reveal that Louisa kept one of the diamonds.

It’s not brought up again after River uses a fake one to get into the Park. Hopefully, this is something that will become more important in Season 4 because otherwise, Louisa might as well have never taken the diamond in the first place.
Thankfully, Season 4 has already been renewed, so now all we have to do is wait for Apple to release it.
Stray Thoughts
- Poor Roddy had to watch his parents arguing and then split up.
- Who did Louisa ride back with? She didn’t appear to be in the car with River or the one with Marcus and Shirley.
- Donovan’s death is surprisingly sad.
- Roddy’s timing with the party bus could’ve used a bit of work, but it’s the thought that counts.
- I’m sure Catherine won’t be gone from Slough House for long; something will draw her back in.
