Love Is Blind Season 5 Episodes 8 & 9 Recap: Love Is a Battlefield / Love on the Rocks

Love Is Blind, Recaps

The couples are getting closer to their wedding dates on Love Is Blind Season 5 Episode 8, “Love Is a Battlefield,” and Love Is Blind Season 5 Episode 9, “Love on the Rocks.”

This episode addresses the love triangles that formed (hopefully for the last time) and shows our couples getting ready to merge their families together.

Oh, and there are marriage licenses and wedding dress and tux fittings.

Johnie, Chris and Uche

“Love Is a Battlefield” picks up right where the previous episode left off at the reunion with the rest of the cast.

This means that we have to revisit the love triangle that formed between Johnie, Izzy, and Stacy and Uche needs to say his peace regarding Lydia.

While this is connected to both Izzy and Lydia and is relevant to their overall story, it doesn’t necessarily factor into their relationships as they stand. Izzy can’t let go of the fact that he feels Johnie is two-faced, which is sewing unrest in his relationship with Stacy.

Meanwhile, Uche is determined to make sure Milton knows that he believes that Lydia planned to be in this experiment with him.

We’ve been treading the same ground regarding Lydia and Uche for a while now and it’s getting exhausting.

Fortunately, once the reunion is over, this is the last we see of him for the time being.

Izzy and Stacy

Partially as a result of the reunion, Izzy and Stacy are starting to go through some of their own discord. Stacy clearly sees and envisions a future for herself that she wants to see come into fruition, but doesn’t feel like Izzy is meeting the expectations.

Stacy also objects to Izzy calling Johnie a “pod chick” when they talk about his previous relationships.

The fight is a typical bump in the road that most couples face. Stacy points out that they don’t have a lot of time to figure out what they want.

During this episode, Stacy also gets to meet Izzy’s mom, and the meeting goes really well.

On “Love on the Rocks,” Izzy takes Stacy on an airplane ride and a private dinner. It’s a sweet last date before their wedding, and it seems to fit them as a couple.

This comes up again when Stacy confronts him about his finances, including not having a credit card. While most of their conflict this episode shows that they need to work on their communication, the fact that they are talking about it is hopeful.

Plus, the fact that Izzy is already getting along well with Stacy’s family is very adorable.

Milton and Lydia

Milton and Lydia are also reckoning with the fallout of Uche’s intervention. Milton is coming at their relationship with the perspective that he can only see things from his own perception.

He also believes that he’s more levelheaded than Lydia. She agrees that she can get more emotional, but also doesn’t like that Milton is invalidating her feelings.

Afterward, Lydia prepares to meet Milton’s family.

Milton’s family looks at everything matter-of-factly and they think of his marriage to Lydia as more of a business arrangement. They’re collectively weighing pros and cons and thinking about this relationship as a S.W.O.T. analysis.

In many ways, his family’s opinion of Lydia and the relationship seems to reflect Uche’s thoughts. The age difference is one of the biggest points of concern in the conversation, and Milton’s parents feel that Lydia’s answers to their questions feel scripted.

When Milton has lunch with his sister, Jessica, he discusses their different family dynamics and how he’s going to rely on his gut feeling. He also mentions that even if his family objected, he would probably still marry Lydia anyway.

Jessica remarks that Lydia, and their relationship, sounds like a science project.

Later on, Milton and Lydia go on a final date before the wedding at a geology exhibit. It’s a perfect setting for a couple that bonded over geology and it starts off with a very sweet conversation about wedding day jitters.

Soon, the conversation turns into a fight as Milton states that Lydia tends to wake up cranky for no reason. Lydia counters with comments about how the dishes were in the sink for three days and there was food by his bed for three days.

Milton then turns the conversation back to the night of the reunion. He mentions how he didn’t like how she handled the situation with Uche, and how he would have handled it differently. As a result, he also mentions that he feels like he can’t tell her everything because she gets emotional.

The differences in how they handle these difficult situations is coming up in how they’ll potentially parent their future kids.

Lydia eventually gets up and walks away from the table crying. When she comes back Milton apologizes for hurting her feelings, but they continue to hash out the situation until they eventually cool off and Lydia says, “We got this right.”
