The doctor is in for Dr. Wolf.

NBC ordered the new medical drama to series today without confirmation of when it will premiere.

The show from writer and executive producer Michael Grassi stars Zachary Quinto as the “revolutionary, larger-than-life neurologist Oliver Wolf and his team of interns as they explore the last great frontier — the human mind — while also grappling with their own relationships and mental health,” per its official synopsis.

NBC has yet to release a teaser trailer or any key art for the series, but the network did unveil a first-look image of Quinto in the leading role.

Dr. Wolf is inspired by Oliver Sacks’ extraordinary life and work, including the books The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and An Anthropologist on Mars.

The series also stars Tamberla Perry (All American: Homecoming), Ashleigh LaThrop (The Kominsky Method), Alexander MacNicoll (Unpregnant), Aury Krebs (Leverage: Redemption), Spence Moore II (The Wonder Years), and Teddy Sears (The Flash).

Director Lee Toland Krieger also executive produces Dr. Wolf alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman (Berlanti); Henrik Bastin, Melissa Aouate (Fabel); Andy Serkis, Jonathan Cavendish, Will Tennant (The Imaginarium); DeMane Davis.

Berlanti Productions, Fabel Entertainment, and The Imaginarium, in association with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, produce the series.

Dr. Wolf joins the network’s growing slate for the upcoming 2023/2024 programming season or beyond. As previously reported in May 2023, that lineup includes Extended Family, The Americas, America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League, and Deal or No Deal: Island.

Extended Family is a sitcom from Mike O’Malley starring Jon Cry, Abigail Spencer, Donald Faison, Sofia Copanna, and Finn Sweeney. The Americas is a 10-part scripted series narrated by Tom Hanks.

America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League is the latest addition to the America’s Got Talent franchise, and Deal or No Deal: Island takes fans of the Deal or No Deal to the banker’s island. 

Dr. Wolf will air on NBC.
