NBC Announces Programming for the 2023/2024 Season
NBC has announced its programming for the upcoming 2023/2024 season, including returning series Chicago Fire, Law & Order: SVU, Night Court, The Voice, and more. Also, NBC will feature fan-favorite event programming and a new night of Big Ten football.
The primetime line-up features three new series set to premiere in the Fall. The two new dramas are The Irrational, starring Jesse L. Martin, and Found, starring Shonala Hampton. Extended Family is a new multi-cam comedy starring Jon Cryer.
The Americas, a new tentpole event series coming to NBC in the Spring of 2024, will be narrated by Tom Hanks, with music by Hans Zimmer. New unscripted shows Deal or No Deal Island and Untiled America’s Got Talent Series will premiere midseason.

Along with those new additions to NBC’s programming, the network renewed the comedy series Lopez vs Lopez and the game show Password for sophomore seasons. They will return to the small screen with NBC’s midseason schedule, including Law & Order: Organized Crime, Magnum P.I., and La Brea.
Alternatively, the network has yet to decide on American Auto, Young Rock, and Grand Crew.
NBC also announced that the following projects had been picked up to pilot with decisions yet to be made on series greenlights: comedies Non-Evil Twin and St. Denis Medical, and dramas Wolf and the untitled pilot from Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs.
If picked up to series, these pilots could be possibilities for NBC’s later programming in the 2023/2024 season, or they could roll over to the 2024/2025 season.

EXTENDED FAMILY

Extended Family follows Jon Cryer’s Jim and Abigail Spencer’s Julia after an amicable divorce when they “decide to continue to raise their kids at the family home while taking turns on who gets to stay with them,” per the show’s synopsis.
Navigating divorce and child-sharing becomes more complicated for Jim when Donald Faison’s Trey, who happens to be the owner of Jim’s favorite sports team, “enters the picture and wins Julia’s heart.”
The comedy also stars Sofia Capanna and Finn Sweeney. Mike O’Malley will write and executive produce, with Tom Werner, Wyc Grousbeck, Emilia Fazzalari, and George Geyer also executive producing.
Lionsgate will produce Extended Family in association with Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
FOUND

“In any given year, more than 600,000 people are reported missing in the U.S. More than half that number are people of color that the country seems to forget about,” Found‘s synopsis reads.
“A public relations specialist, who was once herself one of those forgotten ones, and her crisis management team now make sure there is always someone looking out for the forgotten missing people. But unbeknownst to anyone, this everyday hero is hiding a chilling secret of her own.”
Found stars Shanola Hampton, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Kelli Williams, Brett Dalton, Gabrielle Walsh, Arlen Escarpeta, and Karan Oberoi.
Nkechi Okoro Carroll will write and executive produce Found, with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Sonay Hoffman, Lindsay Dunn, and Leigh Redman executive producing.
Berlanti Productions and Rock My Soul Productions produce the drama in association with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
THE IRRATIONAL
Starring Jesse L. Martin and based on Dan Ariely’s bestselling novel Predictably Irrational, The Irrational follows a world-renowned leader in behavioral science named Alec Mercer.
Alec “lends his expertise to an array of high-stakes cases involving governments, law enforcement, and corporations with his unique and unexpected approach to understanding human behavior,” per the show’s synopsis.
Alongside Martin, The Irrational stars Maahra Hill, Travina Springer, Molly Kunz, and Arash DeMaxi.
Arika Lisanne Mittman will write and executive produce The Irrational, with Mark Goffman, Samuel Baum, and David Frankel also executive producing. Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, will produce.
THE AMERICAS
One of NBC’s new unscripted series, The Americas, comes from BBC Studios Natural History Unit, in association with Universal Television Alternative Studio and will feature music by Hans Zimmer. The 10-part tentpole event series marks the first time that Tom Hanks will narrate an unscripted entertainment series.
Employing “revolutionary filmmaking technology,” The Americas showcases “the wonders, secrets, and fragilities of the Americas – Earth’s largest landmass and the only one to stretch between both poles – and reveal extraordinary, untold wildlife stories that deeply connect with millions around the world,” per its synopsis.
Mike Gunton executive produces The Americas for BBC Studios Natural History Unit in association with Universal Television Alternative Studio, a division of Universal Studio Group.
UNTITLED AMERICA’S GOT TALENT SERIES
This new addition to the America’s Got Talent franchise comes after the success of American’s Got Talent: The Champions and America’s Got Talent: All-Stars, the latter of which “was the #1 new alternative series of the season in both the 18-49 demo and total viewers.”
Fremantle and Syco Entertainment will co-produce this untitled series, with Simon Cowell, Sam Donnelly, and Jason Raff executive producing.
DEAL OR NO DEAL ISLAND
The game Deal or No Deal is back with a new format that “transports audiences to the Banker’s private island where he makes the rules, and there are twists behind every palm tree,” per its description.
“Hidden on the island are over 100 cases with millions of dollars split between them, which teams must retrieve so that they can play a game of Deal or No Deal against the Banker. Only one team will survive until the very last episode, where they’ll compete to beat the Banker for the biggest prize in Deal or No Deal history.”
Deal or No Deal Island is produced by Endemol Shine North America and is based on the Banijay format, Deal or No Deal. Sharon Levy, DJ Nurre, and Howie Mandel will serve as executive producers.
