Love Is Blind Season 5 Episodes 1-4 Recap: Love Is a Messy Game
It’s time to return to the pods for Love Is Blind Season 5. Returning to the pods with the first four episodes it’s clear that there is no shortage of drama
Here’s a recap of all the drama that unfolded on Love Is Blind Season 5 Episodes 1-4 so far.
The First Couple to Hit It Off

On Love Is Blind Season 5 Episode 1, “So, You’re a Recent Cheater,” there’s a shuffle of contestants getting to know each other. However, Lydia and Milton are the first couple that really hit it off.
Lydia is a geologist and Milton is an engineer who owns a polarizing microscope, but of course, the catch is that Lydia is 30 and Milton is 24, causing Lydia to immediately believe that he’s too young for her.
Yet, the two continue to talk during their ten days in the pods while Lydia continues to talk to other guys including Izzy. Milton being younger seems to waver a bit on if he wants to propose and evaluates what he would be giving up.
They have some cute dates throughout the episodes, including one where Lydia sends him an old fashion and he sends her a plush bee.
Yet, by the time Love Is Blind Season 5 Episode 4, “She’s Gone…” rolls around, they’re engaged, but not without some other road bumps that I’ll get into in a second.
JP and Taylor: The First Couple to Get Engaged

Every season, there seems to be one couple who is so certain about what they want, and for Love Is Blind Season 5, that’s JP and Taylor.
They’re a cute couple, who quickly give each other the nicknames sugar and sugar butt, but their story is overshadowed by the love triangles and drama that comes out with the rest of the contestants.
Izzy: The Heartbreaker

Izzy is a character who very quickly finds himself involved with three women: Lydia, Johnie, and Stacy. Although he quickly ends things with Lydia because he doesn’t feel their connection is strong enough, he spends time with Johnie and Lydia throughout the two episodes.
Johnie eventually breaks things off with Chris, her number two, because she feels like Izzy is more exciting only to have Izzy break up with her after telling him that she broke it off with Chris. This leaves Izzy with Stacy and some animosity in the woman’s living quarters as Izzy and Stacy continue their relationship.
Eventually, Izzy proposes, and Stacy says yes.
Johnie, on the other hand, is left to pick up the pieces of her relationship with Chris. By the end of the fourth episode, that relationship is left up in the air.
The Ex In the Game

By far, the biggest surprise of these first four episodes comes on Love Is Blind Season 5 Episode 3, “Blindsided,” which ends with the cliffhanger that Uche and Lydia have dated in the past, with their most recent encounter occurring just three months before walking into the pods.
Uche has been seeing Aaliyah, an ICU travel nurse who loves poetry. Their pod romance is adorable and includes Uche giving her a journal where he’s written her a love poem in the first two pages.
During a heartfelt conversation, he says that he hasn’t been completely honest with her and that he has an ex in the game. It’s later revealed that Lydia and Uche did talk on Day 1 about starting from ground zero but Uche didn’t think that was true to the experiment.
This results in Lydia having to tell Milton the same information, which he doesn’t take well. While it looks like their relationship may have hit some rocky waters, Milton and Lydia do eventually end up engaged.
Aaliyah’s Exit

The revelation of Uche and Lydia’s history drives a wedge into Aaliyah’s friendship with Lydia. The second that Aaliyah tells Lydia that she knows about their history Lydia starts to tell Aaliyah details she didn’t want to know.
While it seems like Uche and Aaliyah’s relationship comes out of the other side of the revelation stronger it all comes to a head when Aaliyah decides to leave the experiment.
Uche finds out from the disembodied voice of Nick Lachey while waiting for her in the pod to propose. He goes back to the living quarters with the revelation that she’s gone. and that’s where the series leaves us until next week.
So Let’s Recap

So far, the focus of Love Is Blind Season 5 has really been on about 10 people and 3 couples. We have three engagements by the end of the first four episodes, one exit, and a couple that may be split up.
These four episodes have had some explosive and diabolical twists, and it’s unclear exactly what that means for the couples we’ve met so far.
And let’s not forget that there were 16 other people in this experiment. What happened to those people? Does Carter the fisherman end up with anyone? Those are all questions that have yet to be answered.
