One Day At A Time proves that reboots can surpass the originals when done correctly. The show features a strong cast (Rita Moreno is still going strong at 85) and writing that is consistently both heartwarming and funny.

Runner-up: Santa Clarita Diet

Santa Clarita Diet takes the minutia of suburban life and zombifies it. The horror-comedy combines some of the elements of shows like Dexter, The Walking Dead, and Desperate Housewives to create a unique take on marriage. It also gives Timothy Olyphant the chance to shine in a lead comedy role.

Outstanding Comedy or Musical Series: The Big Bang Theory
The Veracity Elasticity" -- Pictured: Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik) and Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons). In order to continue living with Sheldon, Amy lies to him about repairs being made to her apartment and they host an "on location" episode of "Fun With Flags" in Penny's apartment. Also, Leonard lets Penny decorate Sheldon's old room after he learns that she has been secretly moving Leonard's collectibles into storage, on THE BIG BANG THEORY, Thursday, Nov. 3 (8:00-8:31 PM, ET/PT), on the CBS Television Network. New living arrangements, a baby, Raj’s surprising step towards financial independence, and a jaw-dropping proposal… The 10th season of The Big Bang Theory managed to provide laughs, giggles, and chuckles — so much so that it emerged victorious in the best comedy category.

If the conclusion of the 10th is any indication, The Big Bang Theory  is getting only more and more interesting in the future. Don’t forget to check out The Big Bang Theory spin-off, Young Sheldon, which will premiere on CBS in the fall.

Runner-up: Younger
Younger, TV Land

With its glitzy locale, to-die-for wardrobes, and soapy situations, at first glance Younger looks like a lightweight guilty pleasure. But the combination of smart writing, strong performances, and captivating relationships, Younger is a treat to watch.

Outstanding Reality Series: America’s Next Top Model

Created and executive-produced by Tyra Banks, America’s Next Top Model has been a favorite for years. Though the series was canceled in 2015, it was quickly revived by VH1, and just concluded its 23rd season (cycle).

Runner-up: The Voice

NBC’s The Voice has also been a favorite for several years. The singing competition where performers are initially chosen based solely on their voice is as inspiring to watch as it is entertaining.

Outstanding Late-Night Talk Series: The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and The Daily Show Starring Trevor Noah (TIE)

The Tonight Show: Nobody does late-night television quite like Jimmy Fallon. From the celebrity guests to the various sketches, the show is always fun to watch.
