Preview — The Witcher Season 3 Part 2: Henry Cavill’s Swan Song
This piece was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, the series being covered here wouldn’t exist.
We are near the end of Henry Cavill’s tenure as Geralt with the last three episodes of The Witcher Season 3.
Geralt, Yennifer, and Ciri spent most of The Witcher Season 3, Part 1 on the run. Towards the end of Part 1, though, they decide to stop running and work to rally the Brotherhood instead.

To do this, they propose holding a conclave with all mages to convince them to work together as a united front. Geralt and Yennifer’s plan appears successful at first. They manage to win the confidence of the Brotherhood and even neutralize Stregobor as a threat.
But with three episodes left in the season, we knew another shoe would drop. And drop it does. Just hours after the conclave, Yennifer and Geralt realize they were focused on the wrong enemy.
They realize that it is actually Vilgefortz — someone they thought was an ally and Tissaia’s lover — that’s been after Ciri all along. Part 1 ends with the mages of Aretuza in battle and Dijkstra holding a blade to Geralt’s throat.
It’s quite the dramatic jumping-off point for the final three episodes. After coming so close to success, Geralt, Yennerifer, and Ciri must reassess everything they thought they knew about the dangers they face.
There are also still questions about Ciri’s father, her growing powers, and Yennifer and Geralt’s romance. Plus, at the end of the season, viewers still have to say goodbye to Henry Cavill in the role he originated.
We don’t know yet how or whether the series will acknowledge the casting change from Cavill to Liam Hemsworth. However, the trailer implies Geralt will have to make a sacrifice to protect his family.
Will the characters have to say goodbye to Geralt as they know him as well? There is a lot of story left to tell in The Witcher Season 3, Part 2.
