The Conners Renewed for Season 6 at ABC

Grab your friends and family for another meal at The Lunch Box and follow up with drinks at the Lobo Lounge. The Conners has been renewed for Season 6 at ABC. 

According to TVLine, ABC announced the Wednesday night mainstay coming back for Season 6 guarantees that the show will surpass that coveted 100 episodes.

Since its debut in 2018, The Conners has entertained fans with its heartfelt look into the joys and struggles of a working-class family. What was first started by Roseanne in 1988 has morphed into a story all its own with that smidge of welcoming nostalgia.

Deadline adds that this renewal comes on the heels of The Conners Season 5 Episode 22, “The Grad Finale,” which garnered 3.6M viewers. This show has continued to be one of ABC’s highest-rated sitcoms, with the season averaging about 3.8M live/same-day viewers per episode.

Executive Producer Bruce Helford previously stated that Season 6 might be The Conners‘ last.

“Sara Gilbert expressed to the network that we don’t want to go out without knowing that we are going out with a series finale so we can build to the right ending — and at this point in time, we feel that [next season] is possibly going to be the last season of The Conners,” Helford told TVLine.

“I would not [say that] definitively because the numbers were so good this season, and we’ve all had a really great time… but it’s definitely a possibility,” Helford added.

TVLine’s report reiterates, “Tuesday’s renewal announcement made no mention of it being a farewell run.” So, with how strongly Season 5 performed, there is a chance of the show continuing. If anyone knows how to be resilient in the face of uncertainty, it is the Conner clan. 

Deadline’s report also confirms that regulars Sara Gilbert, John Goodman, Lecy Goranson, and Laurie Metcalf have all signed contracts for the new season. Other casting news is ongoing.

Season 5 centers on the struggles of Becky trying to get an education while being a single mom to her daughter, Beverly Rose, and Darlene trying her best to provide a steady income for her family while giving her kids the most she can. 

With The Conners Season 6 confirmed, this family will surely bring more laughs and love to all of life’s messes. With Mark now off to college and Becky well on her way to being a college grad herself, this next season is bound to give us more of that Conner connectivity we’ve known and loved for five seasons now.
