Ahsoka Teaser Trailer Released at ‘Star Wars’ Celebration 2023

Ahsoka, News

Ahsoka is taking the lead in her Disney+ series, which is set to debut this year!

Star Wars Celebration is underway in London, with plenty of exciting news coming from the Celebration Stage during the Lucasfilm Studios Showcase that will light up the Galaxy, including the teaser trailer for the upcoming Star Wars: Ahsoka series.

Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni confirmed that Ahsoka, set after the fall of the Empire, will premiere exclusively on Disney+ in August 2023.

Per Ahsoka‘s logline, the series “follows the former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.”

Rosario Dawson stars in the Disney+ show’s titular role and took the Star Wars Celebration stage with Natasha Liu Bordizzo and Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

Bordizzo will star as Sabine Wren — a character from Star Wars Rebels. The teaser trailer features other elements familiar to fans of the animated series, like the droid Chopper.

Meanwhile, Winstead announced exclusively at Star Wars Celebration that she will play Hera Syndulla.

Until Disney+’s live-action Ahsoka, Ashley Eckstein originated and portrayed the Rebel hero in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars that debuted in 2008.

Dawson has made two appearances as Ahsoka Tano since 2020. The first is on The Mandolarion Season 2 Episode 5, “Chapter 13: The Jedi,” and the second is on The Book of Boba Fett Season 1 Episode 6, “Chapter 6: From the Desert Comes a Stranger.”

As previously reported, Hayden Christensen will reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker, which he portrayed on Star Wars: Episode II — Attack of the Clones in 2002 and Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith in 2005.

Christensen reappeared as Anakin in flashbacks on 2022’s Obi-Wan Kenobi, in which Christensen dawned the Darth Vader suit for the first time in 17 years.

The teaser trailer leaves plenty for fans to anticipate until August, including a possible live-action interaction between Ahsoka Tano and her Jedi mast Anakin Skywalker.

Nevertheless, the footage features the live-action introduction of Grand Admiral Thrawn — or the back of his head. So, fittingly, Ahsoka’s lead-in to the teaser trailer is her saying, “Something’s coming. Something dark. I sense it.”

The Ahsoka trailer showcases lots of action, especially from characters wielding red lightsabers. Luckily there are only a few more months until fans can see what Ahsoka, the warrior, outcast, Rebel, and Jedi, gets up to on Star Wars: Ahsoka.

Star Wars Rebels co-creator Dave Filoni writes and executive produces Ahsoka. Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck also serve as executive producers. Karen Gilchrist is a co-executive producer.
