Bev’s condition continues to deteriorate on The Conners Season 5 Episode 13, “New Pipes and Old Secrets.” With her mental faculties getting worse, Jackie realizes she needs to make some hard decisions.
At first, she thinks maybe it’s best to keep Bev’s care in the family, but it soon becomes apparent that they need assistance. With help from Darlene, Becky, Mark, and Harris, Jackie looks into a caregiver for her mother.

Meanwhile, Darlene starts to see some issues with her new home’s plumbing. Considering her father is the one who helped install everything she turns to him.
His stubborn behavior about the quality of work he does creates tension between the father and daughter.
