The new season premieres on Friday, March 31, on the streaming service, and it will see Peyton Elizabeth Lee’s Lahela ‘Doogie’ Kamealoha stuck between her first love, Alex Aiono’s Walter, and a new bad boy who also happens to be one of her patients, Milo Manheim’s Nico.

Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. Season 1 concluded in November 2021 with Walter leaving for the World Surf Tour, but when he returns, “he’s not the same boyfriend she said good-bye to months before. But she’s not the same girl either.”

In the meantime, Lahela turns to Emma Meisel’s Steph Denisco and her coworkers for advice about her relationship with Walter, to which Ronny Chieng’s Dr. Lee has some pessimistic thoughts about long-distance relationships.

Per the season’s synopsis, those changes become clear when Lahela meets Nico on a dirt bike, and the trailer has a glimpse at their meet cute. However, it also reveals that their connection becomes all the more complicated with Lahela as Nico’s doctor.

So Lahela is “faced with a decision: fight for what she knows is true, or give new love a chance. It’s all complicated by the pressures of being a teenage doctor. Luckily, she has her family, coworkers, and best friend Steph to support her along the way.”

The trailer hints at the tough decisions that come with being a teenager and a doctor. Lahela’s mom Dr. Clara Hannon, played by Kathleen Rose Perkins, says those challenges are tougher for Lahela because she’s “not a normal teenager.”

The new Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. shows the appeal of both ways with Nico saying, “I think you’re right where you’re supposed to be,” and Walter telling Lahela, “You make walking down a beach feel like I’m riding the biggest wave in the world.”

Beyond the big love triangle, the trailer teases a talent show and a family vacation, all while showcasing the beauty of Hawai’i.

Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. also stars Jason Scott Lee as Benny Kamealoha, Matthew Sato as Kai Kamealoha, Wes Tian as Brian Patrick Kamealoha, Mapuana Makia as Noelani, and Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman as Charles.
