Fire Country premiered on Friday, October 7, and has averaged 8 million viewers per episode since, making the hit show the top new broadcast series of the season.

On October 19, CBS ordered a full-season pickup of the show that stars SEAL Team‘s Max Thieriot as Bode Donovan.

Fire Country sees Bode seek redemption and a shortened sentence by joining a prison-release firefighting program called Cal Fire in rural Northern California, which also happens to be in his hometown.

Per the show’s description, Bode and “other inmates are partnered with elite firefighters to extinguish massive, unpredictable wildfires across the region.”

The literal fires collide with personal ones as Bode confronts the people and places where “he was once a golden all-America son — until his troubles began” five years ago.

According to CBS, “With live +35-day multiplatform viewing, more than 10 million viewers an episode are watching Fire Country across Linear + Streaming platforms (CBS, linear playback, VOD, Paramount+, and the CBS app).”

“It’s pretty remarkable to see a new series resonate like this with both broadcast and streaming audiences right out of the gate,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment.

Fire Country has so many appealing entry points for the audience. It combines high-stakes action with small-town charm, mystery, and romance, and a family franchise at its core. We’re blessed to have an incredible team in front of and behind the camera led by amazing producers and writers and an exceptionally talented cast,” Reisenbach added.

The show returns with new episodes tonight, Friday, January 6, at 9/8c on CBS. Also, it will air a new episode on a special day and time on Sunday, January 29, at 10/11c immediately following the AFC Championship Game.

Fire Country Season 1 Episode 8, “Bad Guy,” kicked off the show’s hiatus with a cliffhanger as Bode helped a driver involved in a car accident that resulted in the car teetering over a bridge, but Bode fell with the car into the river while Vince, the Chief Batallion and Bode’s father, could do nothing but watch.

Tony Phelan, Joan Rater, Tia Napolitano, Max Thieriot, Jerry Bruckheimer, and KristieAnne Reed are executive producers on Fire Country. The series is produced by CBS Studios.

Fire Country airs Fridays at 9/8c on CBS.
