Mandy Moore Joins ‘Dr. Death’ Season 2 on Peacock

Mandy Moore returns to the small screen as she joins the cast of Peacock’s anthology series, Dr. Death, for its second season.

Per Variety, “Moore will portray investigative journalist Benita Alexander, who falls in love with…Paolo Macchiarini before learning the truth about him.”

Benita Alexander is Moore’s first TV role since concluding her run as Rebecca Pearson on NBC’s This Is Us in May this year.

This news comes on the heels of reports, like one from TV Line, about how Edgar Ramirez will star in Dr. Death Season 2 as Paolo Macchiarini, “based on the “Miracle Man” storyline from the Dr. Death podcast’s most recent third season.”

Variety reports that the synopsis for Season is as follows, “Paolo Macchiarini is a charming surgeon, renowned for his innovative operations that earn him the nickname ‘Miracle Man.'”

Dr. Death‘s entire first season, starring Joshua Jackson as Dr. Christopher Duntsch, debuted on Peacock in July 2021.

According to Deadline, Season 2 comes from showrunner, writer, and executive producer Ashley Michel Hoban. Dr. Death‘s Season 1 showrunner, writer, and EP, Patrick Macmanus, will executive produce Season 2 via his Littleton Road Productions banner under his overall deal with UCP.

As for the season’s directing duties, Deadline adds that Jennifer Morrison will direct Episodes 1-4, while Laura Belsey will direct Episodes 5-8.

Dr. Death Season 2 does not have a premiere date on Peacock yet.
