Justin Hartley and Barrett Doss Hit the Road in the Trailer for Netflix’s ‘The Noel Diary’
The Noel Diary, starring This Is Us‘ Justin Hartley and Station 19‘s Barrett Doss, wraps up holiday romance with family mysteries.
The film follows Hartley’s Jake Turner, aka a best-selling author, when he returns home at Christmas after his estranged mother passes away.
Upon settling her estate, Jake stumbles upon an old journal that could give him answers about his past and father while providing closure to Barrett Doss’ Rachel who is on her own mission for answers.

Per The Noel Diary‘s logline, “Together, they embark on a journey to confront their pasts and discover a future that’s totally unexpected.”
As Jake shuffles through his mother’s past, Rachel comes searching for answers about her mother who has a connection to Jake’s parents — she worked for them.
The duo reaches out to Bonnie Bedelia’s character for more clarity about Rachel’s mother, only to learn that Jake’s dad (played by James Remar) could be the key to everything.
One of the trailer’s most emotionally moving lines comes from Doss’ Rachel: “I need to know if I ever mattered to her… Maybe you’ve wondered that about your Dad?”

The Netflix holiday romance also stars Essence Atkins. It debuts on the streaming service on Thursday, November 24, aka Thanksgiving.
TV Line confirms that The Noel Diary is written by Charles Shyer, known for her work on Father of the Bride, Rebecca Connor, and David Golden.
As Broadway World notes, The Noel Diary is based on Richard Paul Evans’ 2017 book of the same name. Shyer also serves as a director on the project. Justin Hartley executive produces The Noel Diary with Andrew Gernhard and Norman Stephens.
