Preview — House of the Dragon Season 1 Episode 3: Second of His Name
Alicent Hightower gives birth to King Viserys’ rightful heir on House of the Dragon Season 1 Episode 3, “Second of His Name.”
With another time jump, roughly a year or so, Aegon is making his way into the bigger picture. As we see in the promo video below, his birth severely threatens Rhaenyra’s claim to the throne.
As Otto tells Alicent in the promo, Aegon will be king in the long run. No matter what Viserys said in the past, nothing will change how the town and other higher-ranking officials see their traditions.
Rhaenyra is in for one of the fights of her life if she wishes to continue pursuing the throne.
Elsewhere, the Crabfeeder we briefly saw at the end of “The Rogue Prince” ravages the Stepstone Islands. Daemon and Corlys have banded together to fight back against the Crabfeeder in sight of Viserys’ lack of action. But, the more exciting aspect of this team-up is their plan to overrule Viserys.
With the birth of his newborn son, Viserys should be more alert to the dangers around him. But, it seems that his focus will instead be on Rhaenyra choosing a mate for procreation, which she is vehemently against doing.
With Viserys breathing down Rhaenyra’s neck and her no longer having Alicent in her corner, it’ll be interesting to see how she reacts to the change.
