Chicago P.D. Season 10 Episode 2 Review: The Real You
Raise your hand if you have been personally victimized by Adam and Kim’s relationship. Well, Chicago P.D. Season 10 Episode 2, “The Real you,” may finally give us the break shippers deserve after such a long, trying time of relationship chaos.
The preview for “The Real You” sets us up to believe that once again Kim will doubt Adam and his intentions. However, the episode surprises us by ending on a happy note with Kim saying, “I believe in you, Adam. I do, and I’m sorry it hasn’t always felt that way.”
Could this finally be it? Could Adam, Kim, and Makayla finally be a happy family living under the same rooftop?

The case puts Adam front and center of the action, taking the lead, and dealing with his personal feelings. But what it truly does is show us how far Ruzek has really come. He has grown so much in the last years, that watching him makes us all feel proud.
He isn’t the same wild boy who cheated on his girlfriend and made us all second guess what kind of cop he could be. Instead, he is a grown man who is ready to be a father and knows exactly the kind of policeman he wants to be.
For a long time, it felt like Adam needed to constantly prove to everyone — particularly Kim — the kind of man he was, whether he was capable of handling the challenges he faced or not. But for the first time, “The Real You” shows us he has nothing to prove.
He is exactly who he says he is and he will fight for the people he loves, which makes him one hell of a cop.

“The Real You” turns out to be great for those who love Adam and want to see him end up with Kim and Makayla. However, there is something that makes us feel like the episode isn’t all that it can be.
Once more, we must deal with Hailey, Jay, and Voight’s dynamic. Aren’t the writers getting tired of this? Because it feels like we, the audience, really are.
Maybe it is in preparation for Jay’s departure, but watching the three of them constantly go at it, doubt each other, and lie to one another is getting old.
The worst part is that it is bringing Hailey’s character down. There is so much potential to be explored there, but she is simply becoming a doubtful wife who can’t trust her husband or boss.
The few minutes in which Jay and Voight aren’t around are exactly when Hailey takes charge and leads the team in perfect harmony. Why can’t we have this all the time?

Although Kevin had his moments in the previous seasons, will we see him in the spotlight again? So far, it seems like Chicago P.D. Season 10 will focus a lot on Jay, Hailey, and Voight. Yes, we all know Jay is leaving and he needs time to prepare for that, but what about the rest?
There really isn’t much of Kevin on screen these days. He is always in the background, making a few comments, and showing up later than the rest. Will this last the entire season? We hope not!
With Torres joining the Intelligence Unit, there is potential for a great partnership between him and Kevin. “The Real You” shows the two of them partnering for the case and it would be great to see that developing more.

Stray Observations
- It is nice to see Trudy at the beginning of the episode working with the team. She always brings something to the unit that is needed and it would be great to see her with them more.
- Will Torres always wear blue jeans and a white t-shirt? So far, it seems like that is his unofficial police officer uniform. Is this the character’s way of protecting himself and not opening up just yet?
- Adam will be an excellent father and it will be fun to see how his relationship with Makayla develops.
- It is heartwarming to see Jay and Voight bonding after all the doubting, fighting, and distrust that has happened between the two characters. Seems like Jay will be leaving when their relationship is finally on good terms.
