‘Station 19’ Promotes Merle Dandridge, Josh Randall and Pat Healy to Series Regulars for Season 6

News, Station 19

Station 19 Season 6 will give Merle Dandridge’s Chief Natasha Ross, Josh Randall’s Captain Sean Beckett, and Pat Healy’s Michael Dixon expanded roles as they return as series regulars.

Deadline reported the casting news ahead of Station 19‘s season premiere on Thursday, October 7 — leading into Grey’s Anatomy‘s Season 19 premiere.

Dandridge’s promotion could bode well for her romantic future with Robert Sullivan, which TV Line mentions in its report of the news.

However, considering Maya Bishop’s ultimatum about exposing Robert and Natasha’s relationship on Station 19 Season 5 Episode 18, “Crawl Out Through the Fallout,” it may not mean well for Natasha’s professional career.

No matter, the series-regular role will allow Station 19 to delve into those storylines with more depth now that Dandrige’s Natasha Ross, who made her debut in Season 5, is no longer a recurring character.

The same is likely true for Josh Randall’s Captain Sean Beckett, who promised to get help for his alcoholism in the season finale.

Perhaps Station 19 will follow his recovery along with how his presumed presence at the firehouse adds more or less fuel to the fire under Maya’s threat.

Since Beckett is sticking around in a grander capacity, there’s no denying that the entire situation regarding the people in power at 19 and beyond will become a lot more complicated.

With one of its promotions, Station 19 Season 6 sounds like it will also lean into the drama and politics outside of the firehouse.

Station 19 Season 5 Episode 16, "Death and the Maiden"
STATION 19 – “Death and the Maiden” – (ABC/Liliane Lathan) PAT HEALY

Pat Healy’s promotion to a series regular could mean that Travis Montgomery’s mayoral race against Michael Dixon will get significant screentime when the show returns.

As potentially Dixon’s biggest fight, it’s logical for Station 19 to want to feature that more prominently. Michael Dixon has been a recurring antagonist on the firehouse drama since Season 3.

Emmett, Dixon’s son who dated Travis, left Seattle behind for an art program in Italy. Despite Travis and Emmett’s fallout, Dixon’s prevalence could open the door for an appearance from Emmett.

With these three additions to the cast and the cliffhangers from Season 5 (Where is Jack Gibson?), Station 19 has plenty to look forward to in Season 6.

Station 19 Season 6 premieres Thursday, October 6 at 8/7c on ABC.
