‘Amber Brown’ Trailer Released by Apple TV+
Apple TV+ has released the trailer for the coming-of-age series Amber Brown.
The family-friendly comedy, containing ten episodes, premieres Friday, July 29, on the streaming service. Well-known and Emmy-nominated writer and director Bonnie Hunt wrote and directed the Apple TV+ series.
Amber Brown is based on the best-selling children’s book series by Paula Danziger, which has sold over 10 million copies worldwide.
The story follows protagonist Amber Brown as she navigates her preteen life amid her parents’ divorce. She turns to art and drawing to cope with significant changes in her life.
Carsyn Rose, known for her role in The Rookie, plays the titular character. Sarah Drew from Grey’s Anatomy plays Amber’s mom, Sarah Brown. Amber’s new middle school best friend, Brandi Colwin, is played by television newcomer Liliana Inouye.
Conflicts arise in the show between Sarah Brown’s new boyfriend, Max, played by Darin Brooks, and her ex-husband and Amber’s dad Philip, played by two-time Emmy nominee Michael Yo.
Philip appears to have moved away post-divorce. But, eventually, he returns both to Amber’s delight and confusion.
Amber Brown portrays complicated adult issues through the eyes of a preteen who’s dealing with her own problems that come with starting middle school and growing up.
In the trailer, Amber Brown writes to her diary about the upheaval in her life, complaining about her mom’s new boyfriend, who she hilariously calls a “sports car” or “phase.”
Additionally, Amber works on her art, performs in a school theatre production, and crushes over a boy at school, all while meddling in her parents’ complicated love lives.
She struggles to make friends but meets the new girl who moved in next door. Towards the end of the trailer, Amber has a conversation with her mom about feeling loved, as her mom comforts her about the family situation.
The upcoming Apple TV+ show’s trailer promises fun jokes, sweet friendships, and a heartfelt series for families to enjoy.
