The Sanderson sisters are back in the bewitching teaser trailer for Disney+’s Hocus Pocus 2!

The highly-anticipated Disney+ Original movie reunites Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy in their iconic roles as Winifred, Sarah, and Mary for the first time in nearly 30 years.

The sequel to the Halloween cult classic Hocus Pocus debuts on the streaming service on Friday, September 30 — just in time for the spooky season.

Hocus Pocus 2 acknowledges that “it’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters, and they are looking for revenge. Now it is up to three high-school students to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before dawn on All Hallow’s Eve.”

The teaser trailer fills in some blanks about how two of three teenagers come to light the Black Flame Candle. The character played by Gossip Girl‘s Whitney Peak prepares to celebrate her birthday with Belissa Escobedo’s character.

Sam Richardson’s shopkeeper tells the characters, “You know, legend has it, it’s on the 16th birthday that a witch gets her powers.” A whole lot of curiosity and one spell later, the Black Flame Candle alights with a blue flame — bringing the Sanderson sisters back to Salem.

The rest isn’t history because some legends — like the Sanderson sisters — never die. They’re ready to put another spell on fans this September because, as Winifred says to close out the trailer, the Sanderson sisters are “always” looking for a stage.

The horror-comedy’s teaser trailer also teases the return of Doug Jones as Billy Butcherson. Hocus Pocus 2 wouldn’t be the same without the undead character!

Hocus Pocus 2 also stars Ted Lasso‘s Hannah Waddingham, Lilia Buckingham, Froyan Gutierrez, and Tony Hale. Anne Fletcher directed the film; Lynn Harris serves as a producer. Ralph Winter, David Kirschner, and Adam Shankman serve as executive producers.

Directed by Kenny Ortega, Hocus Pocus debuted in 1993 and revived the three witches after 300 years of slumber when a teenage boy named Max Dennison lit the Black Flame Candle.

He and his sister Dani, with the help of Allison, stop the witches from wreaking havoc on Salem, Massachusetts. The Sanderson sisters die before the sun rises after All Hallow’s Eve, preventing them from becoming immortal.

The witches get a second chance at immortality and revenge in Hocus Pocus 2.
