‘Hacks’ Renewed for Season 3 by HBO Max

News

Not long after the Season 2 finale, fans received the happy news that Hacks will return to HBO Max for Season 3. Hopefully, this means Deborah Vance and Ava will reunite soon enough.

In all of its comedic glory, Hacks has received several Emmy Awards. Additionally, the show has received multiple Golden Globe Awards and nominations, along with Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. Jean Smart herself has won an Emmy, a Golden Globe, a SAG, and a Critics’ Choice award for her performance as Deborah.

Erin Underhill, President at Universal Television, released a statement about Hacks‘ appeal. “The first two seasons of Hacks — expertly crafted by Lucia, Paul, and Jen — gave us beloved, complex characters who make us laugh and feel deeply,” Underhill commented.

“We’re thrilled that our HBO Max partners have renewed this standout series for a third season, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for Deborah, Ava, and the rest of our outstanding ensemble,” Underhill continued.

A statement by Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content at HBO Max, joined Undehill’s comments. “We congratulate Hacks‘ extraordinarily gifted executive producers and cast, and our partners at Universal Television,” Aubrey stated.

“We are overjoyed at the audience and press response to the new season, and glad to give viewers more of this gorgeous, hilarious, moving show,” Aubrey continued.

Aubrey recognizes the audience’s response as it has been just as great as the press’. The show’s popularity is reflected in where it stands on the streaming service.

When accessing the app, long-time and prospective fans can find Hacks among some of the most acclaimed shows in the category “Popular TV.”

Hacks Season 2 finale left everyone feeling heartbroken as Deborah and Ava went their separate ways. Although one can understand why the legendary comedienne allowed the young writer to go her own way, it was still sad to watch.

At the end of Hacks Season 2 Episode 8, “The One, The Only,” Ava watches Deborah on TV and is disappointed that their court date has been canceled. She clearly misses her former boss. With that season finale leading Hacks into hiatus, viewers were left missing the duo just as much.

The episode leaves us with Ava’s reaction to their new reality, but not Deborah’s. That anticipation creates questions like how Deborah is adapting to this change. More importantly, does Deborah miss the young woman just as much as Ava appears to miss her?

Now, all those questions could be answered when Hacks returns with new episodes for Season 3 on HBO Max.

Hacks is now streaming on HBO Max.
