The season finale rapidly approaches, with the penultimate episode of New Amsterdam Season 4 Episode 21, “Castles Made of Sand.”
Veronica Fuentes (Michelle Forbes) is finally gone, and the DamFam can rejoice! But what does that mean for everyone left? Will the status quo return, with Max (Ryan Eggold) single-handedly trying to fix everything about America’s healthcare system?

It’s clear that Max is still contemplating his decision to return to London to be with Helen (Freema Agyeman). With the season finale around the corner, hopefully a Sharpwin reunion is imminent. The side of the ocean on which they’ll reunite remains to be seen.
Hopefully too, New Amsterdam can close the loop on Iggy (Tyler Labine), and the terrible decisions he’s made all season. If Martin (Mike Doyle) hasn’t packed up the kids and left yet, he probably should sooner rather than later. There’s little hope left for Iggy at this point.
It also appears that Lauren (Janet Montgomery) and Leyla (Shiva Kalaiselvan) are back living together. Hopefully, this represents a new start on what will be a healthier relationship, now that Lauren has returned to her sobriety journey in earnest.
It will be interesting to see what this episode has in store for Floyd (Jocko Sims) as well. New Amsterdam has struggled with this character, this season in particular. His story is hopefully coming to some kind of resolution, if not a different and better direction.
Of course, Floyd could just descend into complete chaos, because why wouldn’t New Amsterdam make that choice?
The penultimate episode of New Amsterdam promises a dramatic set-up for the season finale. Hopefully, arcs can be completed and characters can be left in better places.

Episode description: When an elder care facility shuts down, New Amsterdam is forced to intake many new patients. Max struggles with his decision to head back to London. Reynolds takes his personal frustrations out on his department with near disastrous results. Iggy’s work causes him to reflect on his marriage and personal life.
