iCarly Review: iDragged Him (Season 2 Episode 7)

iCarly, Reviews

Harper is finally getting her moment on iCarly Season 2 Episode 7, “iDragged Him.” She is funny, sassy, and overdramatic at times, which makes her the perfect person to style drag queens.

All five of our main characters seem to have bigger individual storylines (even though some are intertwined) on this episode rather than playing off one or two and combining the narratives in this way is going to work well as the show continues.

It also doesn’t come as much of a surprise when Carly is left to pair with Spencer for the reality show competition Paul suggests she join to boost her own viewership.

Paul is introduced on iCarly Season 2 Episode 6, “iBuild a Team, and for right now it appears that his role will be majorly off-screen. Since he’s her manager though, I’m hoping his presence will return in person from time to time, or else the role will feel pointless.

Carly and Spencer are butting heads over this competition, and instead of talking to each other about it, weird flashbacks with random actors are happening in the background. Spencer’s ego is taking hold and he’s losing sight of what the competition could mean for the web show.

Spencer always likes to take things too far and it’s evident in the way he is behaving, incorporating memories from the past feels random and unaligned with the current story.

Challenges are being met all around in “iDragged Him and Freddie’s role as a mediator for the Shay’s as well as for Millicent is on brand. Millicent’s feistiness is in full force, and she’s honestly got a lot of rage for someone so young.

She’s tough and I like that for her character so much. It’s a nice contrast from Freddie’s nice guy routine and this duo is a strong one. It’s also nice to see their familial relationship develop further.

Having established drag queens come into play drag queen characters instead of just starring as themselves is truly iconic. Their energy is exactly what Harper needs and the drama and campiness of it all is delightful.

Harper’s drag queen Reese Witherspoon fashion is next level. There’s a lot of energy in the design space and could be chaotic for some, but not for Harper. She holds her own, stands by her designs, and ultimately creates showstopping numbers for all four queens.

The queens also bring their own humor into iCarlyScarlett Envy’s character was particularly funny in shading Trader Joe’s employees ( a millennial staple honestly).

Season 2 Episode 7 is chock full of drama, drag queens, and drop-dead gorgeous designs. It delivers a mix of confidence and self-assurance and it is generally a really good time.

Stray Thoughts:

  • I love the addition of drag queens it is so much fun!
  • Freddie and Millicent understanding each other as father and daughter is so wholesome.
  • Spencer is the biggest child adult out there.
