Cole Sprouse Talks New ‘Riverdale’ Relationships at PaleyFest [Interview]
Sometimes it’s about changing things up.
We recently caught up with Cole Sprouse on the Riverdale red carpet at PaleyFest to talk about his character Jughead’s newfound romance with Tabitha Tate — heir to the Pop’s throne. (You can watch the full video below.)
In referring to the duo as a needed new energy for the show, we discovered Sprouse could not agree more.
“It’s been a breath of fresh air for me, as an actor, to have new eyes on [the show]. When you’re used to the same character for six and a half years, you can kind of get into the motion of things [where] you’re not really too conscious of what you’re doing,” Sprouse said.
“It’s really nice to have Erinn [Westbrook] there to be like, ‘Why’d you do that?’ and then I can say ‘Wow, I actually had never thought I was doing that before.’ It’s been really refreshing for me, too.”
Sprouse appreciates Westbrook not just for the way she challenges him on screen, but for the fluidity and ease she had when stepping into a role that was anything but easy.
“It can be intimidating for a new actor to come on to a show five seasons in, to a dynamic and a cast that’s pretty well oiled and know each other really well.”
There’s no doubt the addition of Tabitha Tate has been an asset for Jughead and Riverdale alike, but when it comes to the dynamic between Sprouse and Westbrook off-screen?
“Erinn and I have a great relationship. We’ve all become very close.”

Lol the way he’s just talking about just having a new cast member in the show and you’re just flat out stating that he talked about the pairing when he didn’t talk at all about the pairing. He nodded along when you said “jughead and tabitha, so sweet!” Like he was listening. You can at least not try to be misleading when you summarize these interviews. It’s not like we can’t check the video ourselves XD
I’m sorry you feel mislead! But when I said “it’s a breath of fresh air” he said “it’s a breath of fresh air for me, as well” and the rest of his answer was explaining why.
